sensasia at the miramar certainly looks like an expensive asian restaurant; it’s heavy, dark wood furniture and dim lit interior giving it an old school chinese restaurant look which i suspect the designers were originally going for. i say asian because sensasia is not the chinese restaurant we were told it is when we were pointed in the direction of the miramar. in fact, if i’m not mistaken, i think the chef is from thailand because there is a pronounced thai flavour to everything. take my advice and assume the restaurant is thai. order the thai and indonesian dishes and you will really enjoy your meal. be sure to include any one of the curries, we had bothredand green and loved the two of them. if you want noodles try their lovely phat thai khai net or the flat noodles, singapore char kway teow – really yummy. instead of fried rice try the balinese nasi goreng which has a beautifully balanced sweet and savoury taste. also worth trying is the beef with hot basil. we were a big group and tried quite a few dishes, i did not touch a single one of the supposed chinese dishes…except the duck, which was nice. service is very good but also very slow (they need more servers). but be forewarned, prices are exorbitant to the point of being ridiculous.
