satterfield's

disappointing. my wife and i dined at satterfield's tonight on a rare date night for us. we had never eaten there and wanted to give it a try. it was a disappointment to say the least. we arrived and were promptly seated. we did not see our server for 10 minutes after we were seated. she finally showed up and took our drink order and gave us menus. we finally ordered, i had the pan seared wahoo and my wife ordered the snapper. my wahoo was really over-done. i mentioned it to the manager (who also brought our food), and he agreed and sent itbackto the kitchen for a replacement. i am not one to send foodbackso the food has to be pretty awful for me to do that. when he broughtbackthe replacement, it was cooked to a crisp on the outside, and raw on the inside. he camebackand checked on us and i showed him the raw fish. he apologized and offered me something else from the menu but at this point we had to get home to the baby-sitter so i didn't have any more time, nor did i want to chance it again. he was very nice to comp my dinner and also gave us a free dessert. he was very apologetic and accommodating but it doesn't make up for the poor food. i expected more from a restaurant in this price point. next time i'll stick to a restaurant that is proven to be good every time such as ocean, highlands, etc. we won't be back.

worst experience i have ever had at a restaurant. i was in the prom group with one of the people who wrote a review below this. when we made a reservation they did not communicate to us that we would be expected to buy a three course meal that would be $70+ a person. some people in my group spoke with the manager and he finally very reluctantly allowed us to just buy an entree (but strongly encouraged we buy a dessert...) they said we could call our parents to ask for money or get a credit card number over the phone. for some of us, having enough money wasn't the issue. the issue was that we refused to pay $70+ for food... after all of that mess was over it took an hour and a half to get our food. my steak was very fatty and undercooked, i could barely chew it. i would have sent it back, but i knew it would take a long time for them to cook it. the rest of the food was good. they were very rude to us and said we needed to "respect their business" yet they weren't respecting us... hmm... they completely took advantage of us. we're high schoolers for goodness sake. i will never gobackto satterfields.

worst restaurant ever. my friends and i went to satterfield's before prom. when we arrived we were given a three course menu. we were not told that we were suppose to order one thing from each coarse. the price came to be $100+. after talking to the manager (who was very rude by the way) for 30 minutes he finally and very reluctantly allowed us to get one thing off the menu. we were at satterfield's for over 2 hours. the food was okay but i've definitely had much better. we all order steak medium well but it came out extremely red. so red that we couldn't eat half of it. we would have sent itbackif it wasn't going to take another hour to cook. two of my friends decided to split and were not told that there would be a $10 fee per person to split the small amount of food we were given until the food was already out. the waitresses, along with the manager, were talking about us right in front on our faces.when we finally got our check the price was about $50. we were forced to pay the 20% tip that they did not deserve! the waitress came to every person and wrote in her own tip without asking which we found very rude. needless to say i will never ever ever ever gobackto that horrendous place! i suggest to everyone who wants to go there to not!

wow!! amazing food, cozy and clean environment and excellent wait staff! five stars*****. i had the best experience with satterfields this week. we picked it for our weekly ladies night and i must say it was incredible and we'll be back. the service was on point and our waitress was very polite and professional and personable. we started with a mixture of malpeque oysters that were small, fresh and full of flavor. my dinner was beyond my expectations and so good that i personally called the chef out to shake his hand. it truly was the best chicken dish i've had out of all of the fine dining restaurants in birmingham. i enjoyed the oven roasted tanglewood farms chicken breast and farmer’s market succotash with lady peas, heirloom tomatoes, okra, sweet corn, basil, and citrus-foie gras butter and as an extra little surprise the chef added a few fried okra's. ahh so good!! it was top notch and full of flavor and the chicken was extremely juicey. i could not stop going on and on about how good it was. on top of the tastinss, the presentation was spectacular. all together from start to end it was an incredible dining experience and i will be goingbackvery very soon.

not worth the price at all. wife and i visited satterfield's a few monthsbackwith decent expectations...were very disappointed. to sum it up, food was just okay(bad for the price) and we felt rushed out by our server. will not be returning
