craving for some seafood and want agoodspot overlooking viaduct harbour? well this place is for you located just in the corner of quay and lower hobson streets, the spot where kermadec used to be. this laid-back eatery, brasserie and bar specialises in seafood but the offer other great dishes too. the minute you walk into this place you will be welcomed with a nice open bright space, especially during summers where the open the retractable roof. tuatuas and oysters will also be there to welcome you together with your table attendant.

stunning view of the viaduct even in the rain.

kingfish crudo wasgoodnot sure about the nuts in here.
fried chicken was ok a bit on the drier side but its a bigger portion and the accompanying sauce and lemon were agoodtouch.

venue is great, and food quality was pretty on point. came here for my little cousins bday lunch, we ordered a lot, totalling around $400 but left the restaurant still hungry which was my disappointment here, i hate to compare but when looking at dr. rudi’s sharing plates vs. here. dr rudi wins by a mile. we had no left overs, everything we ordered, we demolished within seconds, we all wished we ate before we came because we were all pretty hungry and saving our stomachs for what we thought would be a big feed (especially with the amount we spent.)

however! fries were so good, the prawns were amazing very sad that the serving size was so small :(. the beef was sogoodaswell and also the green beans on the side, fried chicken was yummy and moist. i mean, overall the food quality was great! and cocktails were yummy! just was a let down that we left still hungry and ended up at oyster and chop afterwards, lol

dined here for a birthday dinner and the ambience and food was delicious! was nice to experience fine dining for once. this place knows how to cook up a storm and top their dishes with amazing sauces! the dishes included the kingfish sashimi (super fresh that it melted in your mouth), meat platter, pork & spiced carrot croquette, roasted butternut salad (can't stress enough howgoodthe sauce was), fried chicken (crispy, but the meat itself could have been more juicy), wagyu short beef rib fillet (super tender, loved it), rolled porchetta, woodfired lamb rump and the woodfired eggplant. everything was so delicious, and the view facing the viaduct was a bonus! lovely staff as well!

visited saint alice on a busy saturday night and the place was buzzing withgoodvibes. we had a table of 6 for drinks without a reservation and the view was amazing overlooking the viaduct basin.

our waitress was super nice, she gave us drink recommendations and assisted us with the menu.

the cocktails and drinks here are very reasonable with $10 espresso martini’s available too!!

we ordered the fries to go with our drinks, highly recommended.

really nice place in the area withgoodand quick service. it was really busy on weekend afternoon especially closing time for happy hours of $1 oyster but the service was still on top. they even had a “bag” of kid goodies, not just a paper! so it’s pretty kid-friendly place. love the oysters - fresh, juicy and yummy. chips were sooo crispy throughout the whole bowl but a bit too salty. bone marrow were cooked well and really good. the mocktail was really delicious as well but a bit pricey because of the location i think. definitely recommended and would go back again to try more food.

finally managed to visit saint alice with friends. it was a busy night in the viaduct & with their great view it’s easy to see why they’re so busy.
service was mostly ok. we were slow to be served & the female waitress was a bit disinterested. we then flagged down a male & he was much more helpful withgoodmenu suggestions.
i tried the wood fired steak which did have a nice smoky flavour. the potatoes were crispy with a fluffy inside. the cheese fondue (think slab of camembert melted on the top) had agoodtexture, but a jus or gravy would have had more flavour. it needed seasoning too (i don’t normally add s&p) but they had that on the tables. it was ok but we agreed it was a bit boring. had food envy with the chicken so wished in hindsight i’d chosen that.
saint alice is nice enough but a little like all the rest.

great place for a drink & a bite to eat

saint alice is a roof top restaurant/bar in the viaduct. the ambience is great during an evening sunset overlooking the harbour. so if your after a couple drinks and a bite to eat and dont care for price then its a great place.

4.0 service - as soon as we arrived we were welcomed and offered a table & options of where we wanted to be seated. service team took our orders consistently and the food came frequently with no awkward gaps in between. they also mentioned there would be a 30 minute wait on the lamb which was agoodheads up.

4.5 atmosphere - the roof top views of the viaduct harbour are epic. sunsets are next level here and it has a great feel to it. we went on a tuesday evening so it was quite mellow but a nice chill vibe.

3.3 food - they had an interesting menu ie- with the flounder and bone marrow and the food wasgoodbut the flavours didnt pop as much as i thought they would given the prices they charge. the bluff oysters were ok but a bit small and had fragments of shells in them which took away from the taste. you might expect that in oysters but the best oysters ive had is a botswana butchery. the bone marrow was agoodthought but the flavors just werent there. flounder wasgoodhad a nice coconut twist to it. desserts were average we had all 3 and i was disappointed with them. lack luster would be agooddescription.

3.5 value/price - if you factor in the location “rooftop on the viaduct” then its a 3.5 for me. but you are paying for the location opposed to a foodies experience/journey. the prices are obviously hiked up to cover the overheads but it wouldnt hurt to put a bit more effort into the food. this place has the potential to be a world class restaurant but i believe its more a bar that servesgoodfood.

ended up coming here for a friend's going away party. there was probably about 30 of us that took up about 4-5 tables but we had plenty of space and a great view! really enjoyed the cohesive decor and how open and bright the space is. the bathrooms are pretty nice as well.

my partner and i ended up ordering the salmon tartare, meat plate and fried chicken. the tartare was so yummy, goodspice and the sweetness of the fish complimented the dish well. the meat plate was okay. and the chicken with the dipping sauce was also awesome. ended up getting a couple drinks but they were just okay, nothing memorable.

overall, we enjoyed the experience and the time with our friend but price was a bit high for it so while it was good, probably wouldn't be back.

we had lunch at st alice yesterday and for the most part it was superb, the food delicious, the staff attentive and the fitout really nice. the only reason i am not giving a 5* is because when i used the loo one of the kitchen staff finished and walked out and straight back into the kitchen without washing her hands - yuck! not agoodlook....
