rooster's uptown

brilliant...as usual. roosters never lets me down. and as sure as the south park location is stellar, the uptown location does not disappoint. in charlotte, we are lucky to have a restaurant like this. the open kitchen, the wood fire grill, and the great cheese selection make this place special. start with the cheese plate, then have the duck confit, and accompany it with mac and cheese or the fire roasted beets.

dined here for about eighth time last night. the just keeps getting better. good food and great service with a pretty decent (broad) wine list. sit at the bar and shoot the breeze with the talented young chefs.

i get it. i look young and poor. and i am. but that is not an excuse for ignoring me and giving all your attention elsewhere. i walked up to the bar around 6. the bartender was a jabroney and acted like i was a “kid”. i ordered the food, and it was good. the wine as well was tasty. however, not once did the bartender ask if i needed anything. there was no one at the bar beside me. i recommend the food and atmosphere. due to the service, if u are looking to sit down and eat at the bar i would not recommend. maybe they should hire jenkins to show them service

excellent! we went here while traveling through charlotte, based on reviews we had seen. we sat where you could watch the chefs, and they turned out some beautiful and delicious entrees. we had the wings. they were the best i've ever had (and i've tried plenty!)
this will be our first stop on our next visit to charlotte.

've been very impressed in my two visits to rooster's. as a meat lover, any place that specializes in smoking their own meat and does it well it going to rate highly in my book, but rooster's shines all around.
i've had their wings, roasted chicken, and bbq meatloaf as well as different sides. their wings and chicken were both really flavorful and perfectly juicy (as i'm sure just about all their meats are), but if you take one thing away from this review - get the bbq meatloaf! it had a great blend of spices, was cooked perfectly, and rooster's bbq sauce is incredible. it's sweet, spicy, and smoky without having any one of those elements be too strong. i got some on the side with my chicken this past visit, and it made the meal that much better.
the staff has also been very friendly, and the open-kitchen concept where you can see the chefs working is pretty interesting.

not too bad. i went to rooster's at south park and was very disappointed. went to the uptown location for lunch and they have redeemed themselves, somewhat. the food was excellent. i had the grilled chicken salad and a side of roasted beets. very fresh, and full of flavor.  beautiful space, the décor with all of the wood gives it a very warm and comfortable feeling.why a 3 rating? 1--prices. $7 for 1/2 cup of roasted beets? little steep for me.2--noise. same complaint i had about the south park location. lovely space, but so noisy you can't hear yourself think, let alone have a business discussion.3--hit and miss service. they were slow to get things started and take our orders. then all of a sudden all of the food appeared in a rush. then we didn't see anyone until the checks were dropped on the table and then we had to flag someone down to take our credit cards. when i only have an hour for lunch during the work day, slow service will not get you my business.4--when we called to make the reservation and said it would be six people, they immediately asked if it was going to be separate checks and then groused about how inconvenient it would be for the server to split them up. i watched the server and it took her about a minute to print the checks. not a great first impression.i would try them again, but it would be with a smaller party, and when i have extra time.

it's a nice place to go after a day's work, as the ambiance permits you to talk for a while and relax.... food is undoubtedly good and tasty.....

small portions on the entree. ordered the scallops and each was the size of a nickel at largest a quarter for 4 for an entree. we also had the special of the pork belly and there was no meat in it- just a slab of fat... the preparation was good just very very small portions for a very big bill.

decent food but if the aircon was set way too cold so had to eat with my coat on. twice a waitress said she was going to do something about it but half an hour later nothing had changed. ok i got the message and left. no i won't be back.

braised shortribs. fork tender, perfectly seasoned and cooked.

fabulous. the food was delicious. every dish perfectly cooked and full of amazing flavor. the atmosphere was cool and urban. my friends were thoroughly impressed! my reputation as a foodie remains intact. thank you rooster's!

great!. first time at roosters and it was really good! the food was amazing and the service was on point. can't wait to try it again!

tasteless chicken. i ordered the wood fired chicken, what a mistake that was! in fact, the real mistake was going to this restaurant at all. the chicken is tasteless, no seasonings at all, the pomme purée (mashed potatoes) was in a cold clump in a ramekin. my daughter's confit duck was far from good and her scalloped potatoes were a travesty! i cannot believe the amount of positive responses on here, must be "friends & family" of the owner. the girl poured my wine at the table but didn't offer me the first taste to ensure that i liked it! i have eaten at restaurants all over europe and the uk but this will be memorable for being one of the worst meals i've had the displeasure of paying for! never again! this place gets zero stars from this diner.

this is where i take out of town guests. it's not the capital grille or del frisco's, which are quite nice but not unique like this place. jim noble and his staff provide an interesting menu with mostly locally sourced ingredients that just works. if you've never been try either this one or the southpark location. they're both outstanding.

this place is the thriller! even non stop michael jackson/bad 70's music could not make this place bad, its bad, you know it. after such a delicious meal i did a moonwalk out of here.
