terrible. first you will notice the service here is poor. we weren't even greeted, and our server literally threw our menus on the table and walked away not even indicating where to sit. it took an abnormally long amount of time to just get us water. the place was remarkably packed, so i was expecting the food to be good. our "bean dip" was 3/4 cheese, my wife's steak burrito was just that - dry unseasoned steak in a tortilla with nothing else in it. and to top that off an abnormal amount of sour cream over half the burrito and haphazardly tossed shredded cheese over everything. my chicken burrito was also dry and unseasoned chicken with the same sour cream blob and shredded cheese all over everything as if that was supposed to compensate for the poor chicken preparation. i couldn't help but think how i spent $9 on this when i could get a better burrito at chipotle where they take the effort to marinate their meat properly. i really hope the people who go here often, as it seems to have a decent following, try some of the other family owned mexican restaurants in the area, as there are much better options. you money would be much better spent at a standard chain like don pablos.

i am always on the hunt for good mexican food. terry, in particular, loves his margaritas and chips and salsa. when our friends lile and april suggested we head south-of-the-border (har har) to their favorite mexican place, rio grande in the newport shopp

when the service is bad, you blame the waiter. when the food is bad, you blame the kitchen. when they are both bad you blame the manager and don't make the same mistake again.

i ate here in june and had a so-so experience. i was really disappointed because this place is one of my favs. i talked to the manager who was oh, so apologetic. i tried again tonight and it was worse!

we ordered fajitas and got a side of sour cream along with our drinks & chips & salsa (?) then the rice and beans came at 7:30. the meat came at 7:45. i finally asked for the tortillas because they clearly weren't coming until much later. needless to say the rice and beans were cold by the time we could eat them.the waiter was, i think, new which explains the bad service but i don't think he was cooking the food, which was very overdone (meat) and tasteless. the rice was completely without flavor and the onions on the fajitas were cut in huge slices (like a quartered onion). the meal was basically awful. i told the girl at the checkout and she apologized nicely but made no offer to do anything but tell the manager.

give me a bad meal once, it's a mistake, twice it's a deep drop in quality for what used to be a good mexican joint. i won't be back.

delicous. i have been wanting to go here for sometime. stopped in with my two sister. an hour wait, standing on inside and out. after we were seated, warm chips and perfect salsa were served. no utensils, no napkins which could have been due to the overwhelming crowd. despite the rush, within a few minutes we were given our drinks. we waited to order, the waiter checked back about 5 minutes.
i ordered the chicken rellana. shredded chicken, veggies and cheese. would have preferred more cheese but it was still delicious. we all agreed.
my sister pam had the chicken chimichunga, loved it. the crispy tortilla was perfect. my sister kelly ordered the same as me but she went with the faita chicken. it was very good, but no veggies. hers was overloaded with chicken, which we scooped up with or left over tortillas. very nice time

there are other mexican restaurants which do a much better job in the flavor department. however the food here is fresh, hot and bountiful. if you're on a budget and need to feed a lot of people for little money this is the place for you. the mixed meat fajita is easily three average adult size portions for one entrée price.

fajitas for a small army. i really do enjoy rio grande, it is not gourmet by any means but it is decent food at an excellent price. the drinks are affordable and the porions are monsterous! if you order the fajitas make sure you have a huge appetitte or have a small army to feed. my favorite dish there is the shrimp chimichanga although last time i was there the shrimp was over-cooked and tough, but i always order that and have been there numerous times and that was the only time it was like that. when you are dining there hopefully you won't be expecting a phone call because for some reason no matter who your carrier is you won't get cell phone service ( so a great place for family meal time). the service is good and the margaritas are strong. you will leave there feeling like you are pregnant with a burrito baby and barely a bite is taken out of your wallet.

cheap and wonderful. if i hadn't had this place pointed out to me, i would have missed it and likely have passed it by. however, after eating there, i now have a new favorite mexican place! the quesa dip is the best i've had and i love the enchiladas! now that the place is smoke free (blessed be!) i will be going much more frequently! if you love mexican, you have to try this place!!

the menu (to my knowledge) has not changed much over the years, the food is decently priced, the portions are generous, and they have a pretty big variety of dishes! the kid’s meals (cheese quesadilla, rice, & beans) are a mere $2.99 (drink not included) – which is not bad compared to kids meals at other local restaurants. i love the tacos carne asada, which is $9.99 for three big tacos. and the chicken chimichanga that is my husband’s fave is $8.99. like i said, the portions are large, so these prices seem very reasonable to me! and included with every meal is the complimentary chips and salsa! yum! i could dine on those alone.

so not worth it. mexican food is pretty standard across the board wherever you go, but the food ordered was, for the most part, sub-par. the chips were good and the salsa had excellent flavor and heat. the queso dip was very water/runny...but it also had excellent flavor. my enchildas suizas had very little chicken inside, and the tomatillo sauce on top had absolutely no flavor and no heat. no rice/beans on the side and still $9. my co-diner's taquitos looked like something that you would get off the roller at a convenient store and he said they tasted worse.

love it. this place is great, the food is awesome and the service is fast. the fajitas are amazing, just the single size is enough for two people so that can save you some money there.

yum. i was in search of some good mexican; it seems like a hard thing to find in cincy, but rio grande was pretty darn good! portions were huge for the prices, our server was really attentive and my boyfriend loved the chile colorado.
