ringo's donuts

simply amazing.. wow. ringo's donuts are just incredible. the yeast-raised doughnuts are a melt-in-your-mouth kind of delicious. they offer a big variety and you can't go wrong with any of them. the key lime is our favorite! i much prefer yeast doughnuts but we always end up getting a few cake doughnuts too - they're just that good. try the orange juice - you won't be disappointed. i tried their honeybuns one day when they were down to just a few flavors (we came late); i'm so glad i was "forced" into trying them - they're now one of my favorites and i normally don't care for honeybuns. this little gem is worth a special drive - just make sure you get there early (or actually, don't... then there's more for me :) ) to get a variety of flavors; the locals know and love these little bites of heaven!

second friday bringing a dozen into work and they don't last long. killer killer donuts and honey-buns. hands down best i've had. everything you could ask for in a local shop. give ringo's a try!

flat out the best. i am truly a donut snob. i live in virginia beach but these donuts are worth the forty-five minute one way drive. they are exactly what you expect out of donuts. light, fluffy and sweet (but not artificially so). get whatever flavor you want but the plain glazed are amazing!

hard to resist. these donuts are really wonderful! plenty of choices but favorites are always there to count on! the glazed choices are melt in your mouth good but the came donuts are delicious! a real treat every time!

great. amazing doughnuts and very friendly service. there's a different daily special for each day of the week. mondays are boston cremes, tuesdays are moonbeams, not sure for the other days. they also serve coffee, milk and other drinks. the location is right in the center of smithfield, and is very easy to get to. wish they didn't run out of their daily specials in the afternoon, so getting there early before they're gone is a must. overall a great, and very needed new addition to smithfield! love having it here!

yummy.. excellent donuts. i mean really good donuts. only one problem. morning service. if your in a hurry and there is any kind of line you will wait. and wait. only one counter person filling sometimes three or four dozen for one customer. great for business, not so much for those who would like a cup of coffee and a donut. you will be late for work. can't count the number of times i've walked in then out because i know it's going to take forever to get a donut. another counter person would help solve the problem.

best around. not much needs to be said. these are fantastic. they are everything you want in a local donut shop. the donuts will not disappoint. even the lowly glazed donut is wonderful from ringos. stop by if you're in smithfield for a treat.

what a donut shop should be. awesome donuts, aweful for my diet. i love this place. the orange juice donut, the somoa one and the ambrosia donuts are bananas. i'm afraid to try the one drizzled with bacon. no way that's not a crime. the guy who owns it is always great too. here's hoping it stays open as long as i live in s-field.

love their fresh homemade donuts!! well worth the extra calories. favorite is their carmel coconut. taste like the samoa gil's scout cookies.

yeasty, yummy donuts!. the minute we read about this new donut shop in isle of wight, we jumped in the prius and drove across the james river bridge for hot, yeasty yum. read the daily press article as it's an inspiring story about someone living the dream.

mr. ring makes a variety of delicious, fresh, inventive donuts, including his homage to smithfield, the squealer, a maple glazed donut with bacon sprinkles.
there is also a key lime, peach filled, lemon, cream-cheese filled, raspberry and more. he also makes cake donuts. they are not prohibitively expensive--a dozen is cheaper than kk or dd.
his hours are posted on ringosdonuts.com, and they state that he's open until they run out, and i imagine that happens regularly.
i was recently in california where it seems independent donut shops and gourmet donuts are everywhere. none that i tried, including a maple bacon knock-off, held a candle to ringo's.
