what an amazing meal. we went for the tasting menu - and every single item was bananas. the crunchy salad - amazing. the fish - awesome. the beef - ridiculous. the deep fried chicken - my fave. all with just the right amount of heat - never overpowering.

all around amazing experience. we tried the brussel sprouts, naan kabab, duck and whole thai fish. each dish was better than the last. this restaurant is making some of the best food in toronto. can't wait to try out other dishes from the menu.

i'm genuinely surprised with the way the food we ordered turned out to be. usually places making promises of doing fusion in their culinary skills do not live up to the expectations. but rickshaw bar did a pretty decent job. we ordered 5 sides and two drinks. the best one served to us was chicken made in kashmiri chillies, the marination was so good. i just wish it was boneless. up next were mango salad and mung bean chaat salad. the mango salad in particular was very well made. pakora frites and roasted cauliflower were okay, we didn't mind them, but they certainly weren't the best. i was quite fond of their drink lahore rose as well.
i would definitely put up this place in my wish list to experiment with food, which also btw serves tiny portions of it. give it a go and see if it does fusion good.

i love rickshaw bar food concept: a fusion of street food from some of my favourite countries in south asia: burma, thailand, indonesia, singapore, malaysia, india and pakistan. food that is simple but has such interesting and robust flavour with spices and herbs.

just like any downtown "tapas" style restaurants, you paying quite a bit for really small quality of food. food here is quite tasty but as a big eater you might need to have 3 app and 2 mains in order to be full.

roasted cauliflower ($7)

scallop ceviche ($12)

pakora fritters ($6)

smoked eggplant flatbread ($9)

paratha tacos ($6)

khao shay ($13)

chili-fish (trout)

everything tasted rich and well flavoured.

i don't mind coming back again for a pre or after dinner snack. the main small plates is really really "small".

my favourite thing about my job is the people that i have had the joy to cross paths with.  many of them are not just my co-workers but people that i genuinely enjoy spending time with outside of our office.  they also love food.  so, it was the perfect time to resurrect a dinner club that i once loved being a part of.  i got a few people together who enjoy trying new restaurants as much as i do and scheduled the first edition of dinner club at rickshaw bar.

rickshaw is an intimate, warm and comfortable outstanding twist on asian street food fusion dishes. all dishes were superbly presented and balanced. the outstanding dish for me, however, were the brussel sprouts. love them or hate them, you must try them!!

food was just average. service was not great. seemed like maybe they were training new people, but that should be seamless to the dining guest. our first appy came out before our drinks (how hard is it to pour wine?) we were never asked if we'd like anything else to drink and we left somewhat hungry.

totally loved the small, well planned menu. the roasted cauliflower was amazing and really a stand out. so was the coconut panna cotta. fair prices, but super small portions.

loving the south asian tapas. the vegetable fritter tacos and the eggplant flatbread were great. portions were small, but the prices are reasonable for a tapas type place.
