today, i finally got to sample the okinawan fusion they're known for serving. even before trying renny's really fine food, i have to give them major props for something important: curb appeal. he got a disney animator to do the graphics on the truck and i love them. now, that shouldn't matter, as food is king. however, when you're a truck at an event with 15 others plying the trade, having a sharp looking vehicle is going to get them lining up quicker than a nondescript one. if you're a big fan of disney animation, you probably looked at the truck and said the guy reminded you of the characters in lilo and stitch. there's a good reason, ruben animated on that film, as well as many others. you really want to know about the food, as did i. today's menu was chock full of plenty of appealing things. the last time they were here, i was thinking gyoza sounded good if i'd had the mone

ever since i first heard about renny’s oki doki food truck over a year ago, i have been interested in trying his food truck. my love for japan and japanese cuisine being the obvious attraction. unfortunately, many of the events and locations that renny frequents have not fit into my weekly schedule or been on my radar. however, i finally had a chance to try renny’s oki doki at the 2013 tampa natsu matsuri, an annual summer festival in tampa organized by the local japan exchange and teaching alumni association. most of the time the natsu matsuri summer festival is a small shindig that only attracts a small crowd and has a few tables here and there, but this year an impressive crowd and plenty of booths and entertainment in addition to the food trucks were present. renny’s had a loyal line of customers throughout the entire event and after traveling around the event i eventually made my way to his food truck. i ordered the spam musubi dish from the truck. spam musubi is actually very pop

okinawa type cooking is what it’s all about at renny’s. today was the parkesdale farm market event in plant city. last few weeks to take advantage of the wonderful strawberry short cakes and strawberry milkshakes. next week is the end of the strawberry season, but parkesdale is open year round. today parkesdale added food trucks to their repertoire. i had the chance to speak to renny and he told me that his truck was designed by the artist that does simba and mulan for disney. the work is a masterpiece and the guy on the truck is supposed to be renny. amazing looking truck. now on to the food! yaki soba. (stir fried noodles) okinawan soba noodles stir fried with veggies and pork belly (bacon cut of pork) this dish was delicious. had some friends with me and they had the same thing and loved it. great tasting pork belly. i will have to visit the tampa area to check them out again. renny, thank you so much for your kindness. i love the passion you have about your product. hope to see you
