charming pub. quips is a nice, out of the way british-style pub on the east side of the city. i have met friends there for the past few years, and it is among the better choices in lancaster city for a laid back, social night out. the place is often very crowded on the weekends and has a lively, social vibe to it, but it doesn't tend to attract the rowdy college crowd. the demographic generally seems to be people in their mid-20s to middle aged.the two dart boards appear to be a big attraction to a lot of patrons, which can be entertaining to watch. quips offers a fairly substantial list of international beers and microbrews on tap, along with a variety of bottled beers. the prices for beer are a little high if you want to sample the premium beers, but yuengling and other cheaper domestic beers are also available for a few dollars cheaper. i have also found that quips offers some of the best the best pub fare in the county. from bangers and mash to fish and chips, everything i've tried thus far has been of high quality, delicious and fairly priced. they also run daily specials, which knock a few bucks off the menu prices, and can be found on their website. the wings are also perhaps the best i've had at abarin lancaster to date. i noticed a less than stellar review that claimed they are bad, but in the three or so times i've ordered them, they've been of good quality, well cooked, and moderately coated with sauce leaving them pretty crispy. they're also served with a house-made gorgonzola dip which is 20x better than the usual blue cheese from a bottle. stop over and decide for yourself.

great traditional english pub. this place is great. from the menu that lists prices in pounds (you pay in dollar amounts) to a tap beer selection that is quite exceptional for lancaster. boddingtons on tap for those of you who like that creamy, low gas beer, as well as many other traditional british ales and lagers. one minor strike is that they do serve budweiser, but hey i can't really hold that against them as they are a neighborhood bar. in fact thebaris a house!
the pub menu is what you would expect for a pub-greasy food and lots of it. the fish and chips (i've had it twice now) comes wrapped in a newspaper cone jut like the original way in england.
all in all a great little pub, where (if you went in more than twice or three times) everybody would know your name.
