u never know till u walk through the door!!. this little place is amazing!!! the owner is there everyday walking around and asking how everyone's meal is. and believe me it's anexperienceyou have to try... eating with your fingers with the sponge bread is finger licking good.
the ceremonial coffee is a bit expensive so only do it once in awhile... i have not one complaint except i didn't go there for dinner tonight!

the atmosphere was fun and lively but the service was a bit slacking. they have a huge menu for you to look at and here's what i love! the menu is also available online on their website (i love when i can look at menus and have a idea what i would like to order before i sit down). now here's something to keep in mind, the dishes are meant to be eaten with your fingers and hands and are shared within the table. i love sharing food and love when we can all eat happily together so i wasn't freaked out by it but i know some would think it's weird. it's a really funexperienceso i would really advise you guys to get out there and share your food!

an explosion of flavor. this was our first time eating ethiopian, so our waitress suggested the queen's eight. four meat dishes, four veggie dishes and a whole lot of flavor! everything was excellent, but the lamb dish and the red lentils really stood out. our waitress was a sweet as could be. we loved ourexperienceand will be back for more. oh, and it was fun to eat with your hands!

firstexperiencew ethiopian food. i though the food was good but the hospitality was better. we ordered an appetizer of fire shrimp for $10 per for 2 large shrimp on a bed of finely chopped fresh vegetables in a vinaigrette which was very spicy and delicious albeit pricey. then we had the queen of eight for two which was nicely served and good but not delicious. i thought the beef was burnt but the other dishes on the platter were well prepared. my partner who i will call tia tortilla was in heaven with the injera to sop up and roll up the food in! injera is as big as a roti but has a more spongy texture from the fermentation of the batter. they can easily make them gluten free, too. the wine and beer from s. africa were a nice compliment. we will return as it is a novel eating with the fingers and will be the go to place for our vegetarian friends. it has a very homey atmosphere and the waitress/hostess and cook are just delightful, warm spirits that make you want to return again and again. it is not inexpensive food but i am willing to support such graciousness and hope their business is successful!

i had the pleasure of eating here today and i enjoyed theexperienceimmensely! the food is delicious! i've never had ethiopian food before, so i wasn't sure what to expect. i chose the lunch buffet in order to get a feel for the different dishes, and i can't say there was one that i didn't like. we also had a wonderfulexperiencewith the owner of the restaraunt. she was extremely friendly and made sure to engage all of the customers! i will definitely come back and eat here again!

a dusky jewel. after having the wonderfulexperienceof trying ethiopian food for the first time in paris, i was somewhat skeptical when i heard that a restaurant featuring such cuisine was opening in tampa. luckily, my fear quickly abated after setting foot in the restaurant and receiving a warm greeting from the owner. it was completely dispelled after trying their kitfo (spicy beef tartare) and sambusa appetizers.
i highly recommend the "queen's eight" sampler platter for omnivores, and the ethiopian tea as an accompaniment to the meal. otherwise, if they have ethiopian honey wine available (which isn't always the case), get it! admittedly, it may be off-putting for newbies to try to eat without traditional utensils, but the food is definitely worth it!

even better than the food in ethiopia!. we were enamored with the queen of sheba restaurant before our trip to ethiopia this year and consistently headed there for misir wot (red lentils), chicken tibs, and the snappy flavor of injera. amazingly, we visited many restaurants in addis ababa and often left disappointed compared to the quality of our queen of sheba meals!

the only meals that we had in addis that rivaled our tampa fave were the few that were home cooked for us there. that is what really makes the queen of sheba so special - it is like being invited into someone's home! they won't let you leave until you are stuffed and they always want to know how you like what they are doing!

keep up the great work and we hope that the people here will continue to explore and find this amazingexperiencethat truly brings us the feeling of being in the home of an ethiopian family.
