awful food but great beer selection. this place is known for their great beer selection (beer bible) and mediocre food. last night they did not disappoint on both fronts. got the spaghetti with meatballs and it was awful. the pasta was over cooked and the sauce was undercooked. i guess that’s what happens when you go for italian at a pub. save yourself some money and just go here for drinks.

i didn't try any food but the rating is based on the overall experience. the restaurant is a combination between an irish pub decorated as a church in little italy (not sure it is a good mix). they offer a great selection of beers(thus the rating) listed in the beer bible. decent spot for a late night beer if you are in the area

pub italia has never disappointed, and i would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a good beer and a good time. just be ready to stay a while. this place is rarely empty, so pull up a booth, grab an exciting beer and enjoy your stay.

i love the atmosphere of this place and the beer selection is amazing. service is hit or miss and the food is very average and limited. but who cares when you have that much beer ! go holy grail or go home!

yikes..go for the beer, but not the food.. a disappointment. preston street is known for its italian eateries, so we made the unfortunate error in thinking that when this menu touted "thin crust pizza" it would be okay. far from it. our sense: the crusts used are prepared in advance (frozen) and then reheated, similarly - the ingredients - basil, tomato - not fresh. the pasta was also disappointing. on a good note, the variety of beers is excellent and it's a fun patio atmosphere.

for real beer drinkers. wow, i was so happy to find this place. if there is a certain import beer that you love and don;t seem to find, check out pub italia. don't let the name fool you, this place has a great atmosphere that reminds me more of belgium then italy. the interior has awesome seats and looks like it is an old church turned into a restaurant. with a great beer "bible" there is tons to choose from and discover.

the food while not fantastic, takes a second seat to the drink lost, however can be a great complement. the mussel dishes are the best bet to go with your beer, however the pizza's are also good, as well as the sandwiches.

if your in the neighborhood around lunch time then it is a great place to stop by relax and explore some great tasting beers.

go there only for the beer! i left the place hungry after having the smallest portion of mussels ever. they were so understaffed, i have not had the chance to order some more food...

fun and welcoming with one of ottawa's biggest selection of beers both on tap and in bottle. a great place to unwind after work or with friends on the weekend. interesting italian pub-themed dishes line the menu and a very unique decor make this place a highly recommended 'must-try' for visitors and locals alike.

the tuscan sub or something like that was sooooooooo good! i love the cute - priest like atmosphere. that is all i have to say but zomato is making me go 140 characters long.

we had been going there often but it was our last time at pub italia tonight! our big group was at the very end of the patio where we were just next to the fences and there was one more empty table for two next to us. three more friends wanted to join us and we asked for one more chair. here is what we have heard:
- all our chairs are broken
- no! you can't get chairs from other empty tables.
- no! you can't sit a table before it is cleaned.
when we asked to talk to a manager:
- i am not trying to be rude!
these were all coming from the same young waitress. since manager was understanding we decided to stay.
my son ordered stuffed chicken and he was satisfied with it. my husband ordered dante pizza where the crust was partially burned, pretty dry and caramelized onions looked and tasted like they were from previous day. my ceasers were very well decorated with pretty salty pickled vegetables. when we go out we expect hospitality and good taste! it is disappointing that pub italia can't keep up with none of those. just having a big selection of beer is not enough, for us at least.

great place to go with co-workers. of course the beer selection is very big. it’s not a place to bring a first date but it is still a very fun atmosphere. been there a few times and will go again!

service was slow for how busy it was. took over 35 minutes to receive food. friendly service. the food was tasty, however it was a little pricey for the portion size.

my sister and i went to pub italia for a quick lunch on saturday august 19th, 2017. this used to be a place we would frequent often but had just stopped going. we arrived around 12:30 sat outside. our server made some good beer suggestions but after the beer it was downhill from there. we kept things pretty simple. ordered each a small mista salad and each a half pizza. our server asked if we wanted bread as well with our salads and we said sure why not. bread never came, salad was rotten and we sent it back. they did take it off the bill. half pizza arrived on store bought flat bread. dry and tasteless, i wish they would gave mentioned the dough was not homemade. pizza was terrible and tasteless. with so any wonderful restaurants in the westboro and hintonburg area we will not be going back. if you are looking for a quick beer with friends after work, this is a good choice. if you are foodie, don't bother. we will not be going back anytime soon.
