prime: an american kitchen & bar

the scottish salmon looked great, and it was also topped with raw onions which i didn't expect. i happen to love onions and thought it brought a nice fresh spin to the dish along with the arugula. taking a bite with everything on it, especially the caramelized sliced dates, was a refreshing combination of flavors. the soft and earthy quinoa was a perfect accompaniment for the salmon, and i would definitely order it again. the side of asparagus was enough for 3 to 4 people

spectacular view of the harbour .... this is an awesome place for sundowners and early dinners on balmy evenings. the location is stupendous and the decor very modern, open and convenient. surprisingly kid friendly since they can play outside on the grass until dark. the food is good -- but i suspect* at the price it should have been awesome. some dishes like the lobster bisque and cheese cake were too sweet. the chilean sea bass (neither from chile nor a bass, but really the rather ugly patagonian toothfish) was perfectly cooked -- but too small a portion, given it was the course i most enjoyed. nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and lingered much later than we would usually be out on a tuesday night. of course the good company accounts for more than half the reason, but i'll admit the venue gets credit too!

*we were invited to an event in a private back room, so we did not share in the bill.

we had a corporate event at the "harbor club by prime". the facility was nice. the drink and appetizer deck were fantastic. great service, sushi station, seafood station, meatball station, hot dog/reuben station, roaming wait staff with sliders, coconut shrimp, tiny tacos, chicken an waffle bites, mini grilled cheese bites in tomato soup, and more. all the apps were top notch. great bar and great view. when we went downstairs for dinner the night fell apart.

the warm goat cheese salad was good. it was served with spring pea ravioli. i'm pretty sure they forgot to cook the ravioli. my surf and turf arrived and i couldn't eat a bite. i was told my steak would be medium/medium. it was well/well/well done. no pink and burned. inedible. the lobster was cold and rubbery. during dinner disco fever dj started accompanied by bad latin percussionist. the sound system is the worst i have ever heard for a place that supposedly charges $675 a head for wedding receptions. i didn't stay for desert. yuk!

the entrance and welcoming is good and friendly
the fire place is very good for a drink before dinner.
the quality&taste of the foods and the drinks are amazing. the staff is very kind and friendly. i recommend this place to everyone

this is a great place to visit during the warm weather because they have a wonderful view of huntington harbor from a deck that resembles a beach resort with lively music by the bar area. this restaurants décor is upscale with outstanding dining room interior and an outstanding cozy bar area. we were recently there for our 40th anniversary at the outdoor bar for cocktails. we had lots of fun overlooking a beautiful harbor and listening to great music. i rate this steak house for its harbor deck view a ten as far as location for cocktails and drinks only.

great restaurant and atmosphere. food is always good with an extensive wine list. great outdoor location as well during the warm weather.

save your money. we had a 9:15 reservation and requested seating outside... got there 30 minutes early... and were not seated until 10pm... inside!!

the dining room is very noisy so it might be okay for groups, but not for a date.

the food and drinks were good but not great, and definitely not worth the prices... $14 for a side of sweet potato fries. the service was also not even close to what i would expect from a high-end restaurant.

very disappointed... i would not come back here.

food and service terrible. atmosphere is great. i guess it's a good place for drinks but avoid at all costs for food. i even wrote what i thought was a very fair review to the owner, and got a condescending obnoxious letter in return. needless to say we won't be back. sushi was not edible.

for dessert, i selected the burnt marshmallow atop a warm chocolate cake with coffee ice cream. i requested vanilla ice cream instead of coffee.

prime shakedown. noisy, overpriced for the quality. if you want a refined and worthwhile fine steak outing, try one of the scotto's properties: rare650, blackstone or insignia.

service?. the filet was awesome and the scallops as an appetizer were cooked to perfection. now the sushi rolls and service for lack of a better word sucked. they were not busy at all and had more than enough staff so no excuse for the poor service. the sushi rolls were expensive and some of the most bland i have ever had. the spicy yellowtail roll had zero flavor besides the sesame seeds it was drowned in. the salmon roll had no flavor besides the mayo sauce they used. the fish was fresh and of high quality.

a restaurant resting on its reputation from yesteryear. what was once a great restaurant has degenerated into a snobby eatery where waiters push over-priced wine, bartenders have attitude, and the food is sub-par. it's best days are far behind it.

yum!. what a great steakhouse. very nice wine list. good service. not a fan of to many steakhouses, well, maybe i am, but they are: mortons, delfriscos and maloney & porcelli. prime is right up there. and you can't beat the view!
