post office cafe

post office has gone downhill.  inexperience food servers, slow service is not satisfactory.  food quality just fair at best and honestly the place needs a redo.  visit the bathrooms and you will realize how management has dropped the ball.

i had dinner at this place on montauk highway (locally k.a main st in babylon village on new york's long island.
this time i came alone so i was more able to pay attention to the restaurant. i entered the place from the rear after parking my car in one of the small lots behind, passing by it's busy kitchen. i was greeted by carrie w. ,who became my server, and a perfect server she was indeed. she asked me for my whole order but i asked her to bring my beer first, then i ordered the
1- french onion soup with the cheese cover and bread inside
it was very good.
2- chicken jambalaya with andouille sausage pieces
while i ate the soup carrie asked how it tasted.
while waiting for the jambalaya,i decided i wanted a side dish
(not included). the request did not take carrie off her game.
i told carrie to tell the chef that the combo of "heat" and flavor in the chicken was perfect.
in all my dinner was excellent in this restaurant bar with an industrial ambiance.

skip this place.. pass on this place. i'll give credit to the hostess and serving staff they were all very friendly and helpful with their menu and options for drinks.

however when the food came it was disappointing. we started with an appetizer of their signature chicken wings, the taste was good but out of 11+ chicken wings, five or six of them had less than 1/2 of the meat on the wing, it was mostly cooked bone. the celery accompaniment was stained brown and wilted, not fresh. we had (2) seafood pasta linguine specials of the night. the seafood in the dish was probably frozen and didn't taste fresh, it was over cook. i had the chef salad, the lettuce was like the celery, wilted and didn't taste clean or fresh adding the chicken in the salad was cold and tough, not freshly cooked for the meal. the last dish was their nachos with beef chili, it looked reasonably decent on the plate, i didn't taste it so i have no comment on the favor or freshness of the dish.

the inside of the restaurant was clean and decorated nicely with animal carousel figures. the bar area looked to be friendly and a happy place to be with friends with good beer on tap. if you visit this restaurant go for drinks and skip the food.

great pub food!. i love the salads, wraps, sandwiches, and the fact they stay open late. don't miss the coconut martini and be sure to check out the unique list of microbrews.

good pub. have lots of beer options to choose from. their burgers are pretty good - turkey can be a little dry at times. ive had their grilled cheese & its awesome. chilli app is good & like most of their options, its pretty darn big. good sweet pot friends too

good food. burgers (beef) and the tuna app are wonderful! wraps and salads are reliably good. turkey burger is dry and over seasoned and the hummus app is huge but is so bland it's a hardship to finish. they have some good beer which makes going out to dinner a little expensive. wait staff has been great the last half dozen times i have been in. casual local gastro pub vibe.

nice place that gives a good first impression;
we went with a big party and had relatively great service. two bars and two sets of bathrooms for convenience and plenty of tables to grab a tastey bite. nice fireplace to keep you warm and give the post office cafe a cozy feel. the good first impression bled through to the service and food. i had some great mini reuben sandwiches to start and a big crab cake sandwich with great coleslaw.
the wings are alright and the grilled chicken wrap is dry but, all in all, a good place.
