definitely a 5-star experience. this was one of the best restaurant experiences i've ever had. we sat outside in the evening and with the heaters on, it was very comfortable. the wait staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. we started by sharing the mussels, which came in a fantastic sauce. i had the pork chop and my friend had the short ribs. they were both excellent, as were the vegetable sides. the desserts were equally as good. the special cocktails were also interesting and delicious. i would definitely recommend this place.

tucked behind the baldwin hills, crenshaw plaza post & beam seems like it took a wrong turn, and landed behind the mall, but this could be a good thing. to my surprise, there sits a nice building with an outdoor patio and herb garden. the inside is dimly lit, and you will feel right at home in this comforting atmosphere. the open oven in the wall is a nice touch as you can watch the flame flicker. on both visits, the food was great, but during my second visit the food was phenomenal. we have tried the delicious turkey sausage meatballs with spicy wood roasted tomato sauce, devil eggs with smoked catfish, (great flavor), my favorite is the oven roasted penne with short rib bolognese. we also had the mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, long cooked greens, and angus short ribs with fresh horseradish (awesome). the mac and cheese is good, but not the typical southern mac&cheese i am use to;however, the short rib entree is the “one” a hands down winner. again i must say all the food is good, a

post and beam is satisfying in so many ways: a contemporary american menu with a bit of southern style that doesn’t overwhelm with heavy sauces and the associated calories; a setting where you can actually hear your dining partner, and delightful service. in a city where more glitz and glam are always equated with better, post and beam offers you an opportunity to enjoy what’s real—a dining experience for folks who enjoy delectable and healthy dishes in an upbeat, unpretentious atmosphere.

me? i thought was okay, and–…no, that’s not true, it was better than okay. post and beam is a damn good operation, and it’s a damn good restaurant. it’s got a nice, simple menu of pizzas and southern comfort foods. it’s got a nice comfortable bar, where you can kick back and enjoy those same pizzas and southern comfort foods, watch the game, or just kick back with an adult beverage for an hour or two.

delicous!. my husband and i ate at post and beam and loved it! i had the short ribs-which were so tender & juicy while rod had the steak that had a very delicious and unusual sauce. the food is honest, fresh and of good quality. it's seasoned just enough so that the true flavors of the vegetables and meats speak for themselves. try the deviled eggs with fish and bacon and the delicious salad with oranges and nuts. um, i can taste it now. my mouth is still craving it! we finished our meal with the apple crisp ( i brought leftovers home and got up in the middle of the night and finished it) while rod had vanilla ice cream topped with warm delicious carmel & espresso coffee. heaven!
although the deco is trendy and elegant, the atmosphere is comfy and makes you feel like you're part of a big family. i ran into people i knew which is always fun. there's a real feeling of integration.one of the tables had black, asia, white and hispanic. some people are dressed up, while others are totally casual. the place was packed but we didn't have to wait long for a table. the service was stellar. it was nice being greeted and seated by owner, brad johnson and seeing co-owner, famous celebrity chef, govind armstrong from bravo's top chef (oprah show, martha stewart, etc.) running the restaurant. there is so much attention to detail. the owners are watching carefully and making sure everything is perfect. no food goes out without escaping chef armstrong's watchful eye. the sweet intelligent waiter thoroughly knew the wine list. as it rained softly outside and we ate warm food my husband romantically whispered in my ear. "i love you honey and i love this place". want romance? come here, want to celebrate? come here, want to kick back?, come here. we will be back real soon, as post and beam has something special going for it.

the monster makes a trip out to post and beam in baldwin hills with great anticipation. as an investor (albeit a teensy-tiny, nearly microscopic one) in govind armstrong's previous venture, table 8, seeing where his cooking is headed in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere is long overdue.
