porcini is a great spot for a mid-week date night, which allows you to avoid the large weekend crowds in this small space. although the space could be expanded and updated, the service was dutiful and knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine!
porcini has an extensive wine list - my wife ordered a glass of delicious lemelson pinot noir (from oregon). as an appetizer, we ordered the fritto di formaggio di capra (lightly breaded goat cheese, fresh basil and pomodoro sauce, with toasted ciabatta), which was prepared with fresh ingredients and was an amazing blend of savory and sweet.
for her entree, my wife ordered the linguine gamberi palermo (fresh grilled shrimp, olives, roasted peppers, capers, toasted pine nuts, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted garlic, basil and parmigiano reggiano). i ordered the pollo al marsala (sautéed chicken breast, marsala wine sauce and mushrooms), served with yukon gold mashed potatoes, and squash and zucchini.
the menu largely consists of "classic" entrees, but it is tough to complain when they are perfectly executed with fresh ingredients and quality presentation.
