polo lounge

a beverlyhillsclassic. knowing all the right people in beverlyhillscan get you many things, but an outdoor corner banquet, sitting next to a radiant angelina jolie on a perfect southern california sunny day is nearly impossible. thanks to a long-standing relationship with the beverly's concierge team, i recently had this experience at polo and so much more.

the polo lounge has been a celeb go-to spot since it opened, offering a quiet, relaxing courtyard garden setting along with classic lunch standards (cobb/mccarthy salad, strong martinis, bloody marys, an amazing bread basket). it's a place where studios do business, where millions are made and lost. the service is attentive without being intrusive. the booths are nicely cushioned, fostering a long, leisurely lunch that invites comfortable conversation and taking a bit more time.

wonderful experience. the polo lounge was a perfect fit for us as we were staying at the beverlyhillshotel, which turned out to be a great decision.
the service seamlessly flows from the hotel into the restaurant with superb and attentive service.we were seated in a booth near some very loud patrons, though it made for great eavesdropping!! we ordered the seared tuna and calamari soup for starters and the new york steak and japanese wagyu for mains, then the strawberry panacotta and the goat cheesecake with twill.
starters: both dishes executed with a deft hand and provided the balance and flavour combinations i expected. the seared tuna was the highlight with a good piece of protein being selected before being perfectly seared.
mains:
the ny steak was charred well with a great smoky characteristic although it was slightly over the rare that i requested. the japanese wagyu was a knockout dish with the broth being wonderfully balanced whilst combined with the meat, although once eaten by itself the sweetness was to strong.
dessert:
both the panna cotta and the cheesecake were equal winners here, with both being plated flawlessly and not being overloaded with sugar content.
in summary a fantastic meal in all aspects with service and food quality bringing a high standard to the "foody" experience.
