i went here with a group of my friends on a busy monday night. it's your typical southie bar with standard bar food. i was pretty disappointed with the plates that i received. it's been a long time since, i've been so let down in this department. iorderedthe buffalo queso dip, which was supposed to come with chicken in it and taste something like buffalo sauce, but what i received was far from that. there was no chicken, no buffalo sauce on it, and i honestly think they just took a block of velveeta stuck it in a bowl and microwaved it. i can't even begin to tell you how salty the tortilla chips were and all i got were two measly sticks of discolored celery and carrots to dip with, i thenorderedthe cuban sandwich, which lacked any pickles or spicy mustard, but was topped with dry and rubbery pork. the waitress was good, but honestly the food was abysmal. go there for drinks, but please do not subject yourself to the food. southie has many great restaurants and little spots to pop in and discovcer, which i can highly recommend, but playwright isn't one of them.
