pilot house restaurant & marina

my husband and i stopped at the pilot house for lunch and we loved it! the food was great and was definitely worth the price. we sat out on the deck at a table over one of the glass windows in the floor and saw tons of fish swimming around underneath. there seemed to be some confusion between the staff (there was no hostess when we got there/no one seemed to be cleaning tables) but our waitress (michelle t) was super friendly and nice. when we were finished she told us about the great happy hour specials and live music later in the evening so we are planning on heading back tonight! thanks michelle!

loved it!! food was amazing!! michelle t was the best waitress we have had yet on our vacation! she was so sweet and helpful! went above and beyond. will definitely be back because of her!

was not what i thought it would be!. i agree with the guy that said the glass bottom bar was really wacky and cool but i did not go there to see a glass bottom bar, we had driven 1,000 miles and were hungry and tired we wanted good food! the food was sub par at best and way more expensive than it should have been!
only my son enjoyed his dish, he got the mahi mahi and liked it, to be fair the service was really good, the view of the dock was fantastic and the boats were fun to look at, i am not sure the elderly skin and bones chick that was washing dishes aboard her yacht was thrilled at our staring at her but hey we were sitting right there beside her boat.smile
my mahi mahi stuffed with crab stuffing was dry and tasteless, our waitress was very kind and sweet, she brought us candles and it was not her fault the food was not great, just bland. she accidentally dropped my business partner's fish sandwich and was kind, the replacement sandwich we were not charged for and we were given a free dessert, too bad it did not taste very good either. the fried conch fritters were good though.
my bottom line: very overpriced, food nothing great, glass bottom bar fun and service was very good.
the owner did come out and speak with us but then when he found out we were from alabama he made a redneck reference that offended us deeply, we are educated people.

worst service ever. the service was absolutely awful. 5 of the 6 of us got our meal and then they didn't bring the last meal out until everyone was completely done and ready to leave. then they tried to make up for it by offering a awful piece of key lime pie. the entrees were ok and the portions were tiny for what you paid. they fill your drinks halfway and try to disguise it by filling th. rest of the cup with whipped cream. overall, an awful expirience and i would never go back again.

great seafood. i had a combo plate the scallops and shrimp were good - the fish was great- key lime pie was disapointing.
my spouse had the nightly special catch and found the dish to be excellant. we will be going again before we leave the keys.

not good. i think the food cost way to much and is not very good the glass bottom bar is kool but come on did we come to look at the fish or get good food

the creamy crab soup and the crab stuffed mahi were excellent. great service, too.

this is the place you want to eat at when you're in key largo. make a reservation and eat outside. you might be able to spot a lobster or snapper through the glass panels that dot along the dining dock. the food was great and priced on point from the smoked fish dip, cracked conch, to the sweet florida lobster and yummy snapper buerre blanc. definitely save room for dessert - they have an incredible ghiradellis chocolate brownie sundae that puts the key largo conch house brownie sundae to shame. also yummy? the sweet bananas foster crepe topped with fluffy whipped cream. the kids get a kick out of being able to feed the fish and their menu has the basics they adore. now our server went mia for a bit, but the guy bussing the tables during courses was super nice and attentive - even offering us refills on our water. all in all, i will come back and definitely recommend this to my friends and family.

heavenly cracked conch!. sitting inside of this restaurant there isn't much atmosphere. when you sit outside it all makes sense and comes together. the glass bottom bar is hyped up to be much more than it actually is, but it is still beautiful outside nonetheless! the seafood menu here is extremely reasonable and delicious! the restaurant offers fried seafood baskets that come complete with hot crispy fries. my personal favorite that i have to make a point of stopping for when i am in the keys is for the cracked conch basket. the portion is huge, freshly breaded, fried, and juicy. eat it like we do in south florida and the keys with tabasco and lemon! you will be in heaven! the hot wings were delicious and fresh as well. great place for fresh value fried seafood at its best in the keys!!

this place was amazing!! the food, staff, and atmosphere were awesome!! way better than calypsos which is next door!! travel an extra 500 feet and you won't be disappointed!!!
