from the fab 6....a group of 3 couples , who dine at a different restaraunt each month of the year.. 5/30/15
we,the fab 6, went to the pig & finch for dinner and drinks at the leawood ks. location.
our reservation was for 7:00pm. we arrived early and were seated at once. the table had already been set up for us. (nice).
margo, our server, was an absolute delight! we threw more questions at her than fast balls at a royals game and she knew
every detail of both the cocktail and dinner menues.
the appetizers were fresh and wonderful
i ordered the pork shoulder for dinner. it was to die for. two in our party ordered the pork chop. they were absolutely delicious as well.
after finishing our meals, chef john smith came out to our table and discussed how the pork shoulder was prepared.
he takes great pride in and great care with his dishes and the results prove it.
bottom line: crisp, clean decor, friendly and prompt service. reasonable pricing and very good food. highly recommend this restaurant.!

came here for lunch and it was pretty good. i had the pig and finch burger and it was not too heavy to eat. a little smaller in size than most burgers you get from restaurants, but i liked that. the charcuterie(spelling?) board was really interesting. it is a must try for foodies who like trying different things. our service was good, we were checked on about 7 times from 3 different people. a little expensive, but it was worth trying.

i can't say enough about this place! our server, kyle, was amazing. i told him i was having dental issues and needed something soft to eat, and he suggested the espresso pork shoulder because it's slow-cooked for 17 hours and is very tender. he was so right! it was amazing! i also had the shrimp appetizer and it was one of the best shrimp dishes i've ever had! the ambiance and service pushed this place over the top! so incredibly good!

food was really good. i had.... food was really good.
i had the espresso rubbed pork shoulder which had great flavor and was cooked well. we also enjoyed the pretzel bites and pork belly appetizers.
the service was different. i felt like i didn't know who my server was since someone came to our table for drinks, then a new person came and took our orders, then the first person came back
again, etc. i'm not sure if this is normal arrangement that is a unique thing for them, but odd because i didn't know who my server was...

it was great!. ate here for lunch yesterday. the service, first of all, was absolutely outstanding. our server, colsie, was completely on top of her game. she was personable, knowledgable about the menu, attentive, very helpful, just did everything right, including a lot of little things - offering lemon wedges for our glasses of water, bringing us a fresh little dish of the cheese sauce for the (delicious) pretzel bites rather than simply reheating the remaining sauce, things like that. and she wasn't the only one providing the service - when i got up to use the restroom, my napkin had been neatly refolded, the folks who delivered the food were very nice too, just all around excellent service.

now, the food. the pretzel bites were terrific little nuggets, not too salty, really flavorful, great stone ground mustard and cheese sauces (yes two sauces come with them). my wife had the b.l.a.t. (bacon lettuce avocado tomato) sandwich on farm to market bread, and i tasted it as well and agreed it was terrific. boy that bacon - cut in house - really was very good, really everything in that sandwich was perfect. i had the short rib ragout grilled cheese - kind of felt almost like i had to have that, based on everyone else's raves about it. it didn't disappoint. and the tomato soup that comes with it was great, too, really solid and hearty. i have lots of other items to try on this menu so i may get something else next time but it was an excellent sandwich, good blend of meat and cheese, good choice of cheeses, neither one overwhelming the other. the kale caesar salad was also great! the bottle of wine was very good as well, and the atmosphere was great - i even liked the restroom (cool pink hand soap, nice fixtures, clean), let alone the overall ambiance of the restaurant was very comfortable, plenty of room. this is leawood but these folks running this restaurant were not stuffy or snotty at all, the manager even stopped by to ask how our experience was going, and he, too, was very friendly in a real, not a fake, way. i enjoyed this experience very much. and free wi-fi that was really good (fast and dependable). great experience. we'll be back. plus, they offer daily happy hour specials! who does that? very few restaurants. i will admit we tried this restaurant because we had a groupon but we'll be back without the groupon, it's excellent!

and so i feel compelled to remark. the other night the kansas city restaurant guide did one of its “dine arounds.” this is an innovative approach to showing kansas city’s front line – hotel staff – what some of the best k.c. restaurants serve. the purpose: so people like concierges, event planners, front desk staff, even cab managers, can actually know and experience the restaurants around town. then, when they are asked for recommendations, as they so frequently are, they will actually be able to say they’ve been there and what kind of experience they had.  i’ve been to all three restaurants (801 fish, pig and finch gastropub, and 801 chophouse [downtown also] at park place in leawood) in the 801 restaurant group before and was so happy to see that my pleasure-filled dinners were replicated for our group – though i can tell you i’ve never tried that many delish dishes at one time.  i cannot remark upon all the food we ate – too long a list but i will mention the stand-outs, at least t

nye dinner. nice enough place. it was packed and we felt like we were practically sitting on top of the table full of hipsters next to us. i didn't have any, but my wife loved the maytag blue cheese chips. for dinner she ordered the blt with the duck fat fries. she really liked the fries, but though the blt was just ok. i had the burger and fries. burger was fine, but the finch fries were surprisingly bland and a little overcooked.

service was rather shaky. however, being new years eve it was incredibly busy. so service gets a little bit of a pass.

food and service were ok. nothing truly outstanding that would make us come back, but nothing so bad that we would refuse to return. how's that for on the fence?

one thing i thought was kind of weird... super cheap hand soap and paper towels in the bathrooms (happened to mention to female in our party and she said the same thing about the women's restroom). i'm sure it's no indication of the quality on the menu, but for a place that views itself as a step above fast casual dining they should ditch the cheapy pink hand soap.

lunch at p&f. first time there.. love the decor and open feeling. we ordered tomato soup and the duck fat fries for starters but they never showed up. when we finally asked about them, the waitress ran over to the kitchen and ordered them so we had to wait. she apologized saying she forgot them. service was very slow and incorrect and we had to ask often for refills on our drinks even though it wasn't very crowded. the soup, once it arrived was delicious as were the "duck fries." i had the short rib grilled cheese sandwich which was fantastic even if the brioche was a bit burned. "finch fries" are kind of chewy or hard- perhaps a bit over cooked so i doubt id order them again. my dish was served with the most delicious green beans tossed in a blue cheese vinagrette that had me wishing for more and some fabulous home made pickles. hubby had the duroc pork belly which he loved. it was served with an egg on top and a bit of balsamic glaze to cut the richness. he had to ask for more balsamic but it still was a very nice dish.
i think the food was pretty good- not great but the service was a real disappointment, especially when we have so many great choices in kc. we would probably go back at least once more to try it and see if the issues were a fluke. i will reserve my "likes it" or "doesn't like it" until we try again.

not to farm to table. they claim to be farm to table, online and on their menu. but nothing there is from a farmer, everything comes from sysco. it really bothers me that their are restaurants out there doing it the right way and theres places like this that straight up lie to the general public. the food is good, but not from local farmers. if you want the real deal...go to rye.

good evening with good friends!. the four of us enjoyed our evening at pig & finch. service was lackluster-had dinner in the bar and the bartenders were running their butts off trying to keep up but with a crowded bar and only two of them it made for some lag time. drinks all passed our critique-even my mojito which sometimes is overly sweet when ordered. bleu cheese chips good. upon my recommendation, do not order the chicken liver appetizer. pretty blah. entrees were all enjoyed; tomato soup, short rib ragot grilled cheese, fried chicken, and pork chop. nice place. won't make it into our frequent rotation but we'd definitely return.

beautiful decor; not great food.two friends & i had lunch . ordered 3 salads, but all had very strong salad dressings. my chicken salad had a leg & thigh on top of greens. we asked for bread and a basket came 20 min. later.none of us were happy with our meals. however it was a beautiful restaurant and we really want to like it. we all said we would go back one more time and order something else. may try their happy hour .
