so sad to know that the founders, antonio and bruna, retired.  they deserved it and best wishes to the new owners.  the food is amazing and you can tell the recipes are authentic from italy.  dinner was pasta bolognese.  they made the pasta and sauce early at 4 a.m. that day!  the best tiramisu and more than validates that he is the founder once you taste it.  i purchased two to take home as well as several other baked goods.  antonio was a true italian as the day we visited, he gave all the ladies a rose and a kiss on the cheek.  i can't wait to go back.  note:  the best finds like this are usually in small quaint places.

they claim to have been the inventors of the tiramisu. :) we have bought it several times and it is certainly good. they provide a nice bag to keep it frozen /cool. have also tried some their cookies. nothing exceptional but good.
having said that, their tiramisu isn't my favorite and won't be the first place that comes to mind when someone says tiramisu 😊

best italian food!. i just found this place yesterday and it was unbelievable! everything homemade. from the lemonade to the pasta to the canoli to the cookies we bought and took home....the best i've ever had. and the herbs are growing right out front in planters! can't wait to go back again....

i am in love!. i am in love with this authentic bakery, the cannoli and the owner. i could have sat and talked with him for hours! he was warm, welcoming and i felt like i had stepped back in time when i walked through the doors of this quaint little bakery. truth be known, i only ate the cannoli, but i wished i had sampled more! antonio is a master at what he does...not just baking but making you feel as if you are sitting at his own kitchen table! much better than the bakery a few blocks over that is full of impatient young women. this bakery is may be just outside of little italy, but you can't take little italy outside of this bakery! it is a must in baltimore!!

my favorite italian restaurant. i rarely make the trip from richmond to baltimore, but when i do i make sure i stop in to see bruna and carminantonio iannaccone. the food is tasty, the baked goods delicious, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. this is one of baltimore's hidden treasures. do yourself a favor and stop by. try the gnocchi and don't forget their fabulous tiramisu.

piedigrotta is the best and most authentic italian bakery in the city, but its more than just pastries. they have a full italian menu served deli style and homemade gellato. the owner is the inventor of tiramisu. highly recommended!

italian delights. friendly owners, carminantonio and bruna iannaccone, excellent food! i had potato pie stuffed with meats, which was amazing. friends had eggplant parmesan, ravioli, and pasta pie with lots of vegetables. everyone spoke highly of the food, with special mention of the ravioli as "among the best". delightful desserts: the cream puffs were hands down the best i've ever had, and friends spoke highly of the gelati and cannoli.

an italian friend recently had her 40th birthday, and for the party she wanted to replicate a cake she remembered from her youth, one with cannoli cream. she asked a well-known local italian place that i won't mention to make one for her, and they turned

there are no words to describe the pastries, pies and cookies at piedigrotta! one taste of their fig bread and i knew i had entered another time, place and era. i have yet to find a bakery in baltimore that has the quality and depth of an old world bakery
