so first things first - takeouttuesdayis (i can already predict this with pretty great certainty) going to be mostly about takeout i ate on monday and then published about ontuesday:p. i've been craving wings lately, and since i'm in the university city area all the time, i decided to try a spot that's been around forever, but i've never actually gotten to try. so, on monday afternoon around 1, i called picasso's to put in a takeout order. first impressions, their menu wasn't updated on zomato, so i was pretty disappointed with that. the guy who answered the phone didn't give me too much detail about a flavor i was interested in, so i decided to play it safe and go for bbq - didn't feel like taking risks and possibly frying my palate. the meal i ordered was 6 wings + fries, which was slightly overpriced (i felt) at $8.50. no, it didn't include a drink. they told me fifteen minutes - i thought that was a great wait time for wings.picasso's itself was kind of empty for lunch time - i guess i called in towards the end of the lunch hour though, so i won't hold that against the place. it was also a bit dark for a sit-down lunch - i bet the atmosphere gets better after dark. due to traffic, i got there a little bit later than i would like, but my food was still warm by the time i found a parking space, picked up my wings, drove back to my office, parked again, and got settled. the wings looked great - the picture doesn't do them justice (thanks, crappy lighting in my windowless office.) the fries were pretty soggy and not all that great. i could taste a hint of season salt (+1), but in my opinion they were cut too thick, leaving that mushy inside that you get regardless of how long/how recently you fry them.
