went for lunch to phobidden fruit today. firstly the ambience is fantastic, the paintings on the wall and the brightly coloured cushions make for a visual treat. multiple seating options from 2 to more than 8 people seemed to be available making it a versatile location for various sizes of groups.

over to the food:
starters:
(1) veg mekong momos - very nice texture and flavour
(2) banh cuon - this was the best dish we had through the entire lunch - it has such a great flavour and made for a great starter (highly recommended)

mains:
(1) veg pho - the presentation was incredible and the portion sizes were extremely large. the flavours too were brought out further with the addition plate of ingredients. the noodles were great as well. this is a great option for vegetarians
(2) kho - the pork was brilliantly cooked and the flavour of the curry was initially sweet but later changed into something spicy. was incredible to have that variance of flavour in the mouth. the asian cut on the pork means that there is a sizeable amount of fat on the pork and hence choose this dish with a little caution
(3) spicy prawn fried rice - this was similar to most other fried rices i have had and hence nothing extra ordinary. however, the spice was well done and the rice cooked to perfection. so it was certainly a great fried rice, but nothing new on flavours.

all in all a great place to try out in indiranagar for some asian food. the flavours were great and the food was extremely well presented.

indiranagar in bengaluru is known for it's exceptional food spots and phobidden fruit is one of them. my sister had been eyeing this place for quite a while so we decided to go for it.
great ambience and a good place to catch up with friends over drinks, we wasted no time ordering enough food to feed a village.
"chilli pork" came recommended by the waiter and it was worth the wait. cubes of tender pork belly sauteed with chilli's, onions, garlic, spring onions and spices and you could see that the fat had absorbed all that gravy. at rs. 320, it is a little pricey for the quantity they serve.
next, came the "bo la lot", which was cooked beef rolled in a leaf and fried. not sure what the ingredients were but this was delish too. it was a little spicy from the heat of the chili's. for rs. 320, this too is a little pricey.
"mekong momos" wasn't exceptional but tasted good and the sauce adding much needed flavour. (rs. 290)
"kho-pork" was another pork dish but this time, cooked in soy, garlic, onions, chili and served in gravy. here too, the belly pork was super tender, delicious and filling and for rs. 390 it wasn't a bad deal.
what came next was totally not worth the money we paid for. the "beef pho" was bland, watery and it had no taste to it.
the other rice and noodle dishes weren't great either. i would totally recommend their starters but that's where it ends. i rate this place a 3.5/5.

a restaurant with great ambience:
a. during the day this restaurant is very serene
b. during the night, this restaurant turns into an ideal date spot (read as lit candles, dim lights)

food - we tried the following
1. congee (soup) - 3.5/5

2. chilli beef - 5/5
the chilli beef preparation here stole our heart. it's the right amount of spice and crispiness

3. pickle fried rice - 3.5/5
rice is served with potato crisps, veggies and a sauce

4. complimentary pickle and dips on the table - 5/5 yummylicious

ambience - 4.5/5
staff courtesy - 4.5/5

the best vietnamese food i have ever had. the wrap was yum. do ask for the complementary salad/pickle you shouldn't miss that. and the traditional momos are lip smacking you can go on with it.

i went there on a tuesday evening. decent amount of table occupied given the day.
i ordered the jasmine tea to start with, as i had a sore throat. very refreshing. the mango shake that my friend ordered was really good.
ordered beef chilly, ben thanh chicken, chicken summer roll and beef pho. all the dishes were delicious but the pho was the highlight.
good quantity. great ambience, very serene and calm. would definitely recommend!

has great ratings on zomato and have heard good things from other people. but we had the worst experience. the batter fried beef was more batter then beef. the hoisin lamb was a random stir-fry with soy sauce and honey. and the spicey fried rice was just red chilli powder and barely palatable. all and all apart from the nice ambience. nothing to write home about. felt more like a cheap indian chinese restaurant then vietnamese cuisine. the viet coffees. both iced and hot were good though

lovely place and was long time in my to do list after my vietnam trip last year. finally tried out this place, and it was beautiful! but sad we didn’t get a chance to try their banh mi sandwich. but the chicken pho was so comforting and good. we tried the dumplings / momo that was very ordinary. rest was good and authentic as it can get in bangalore.

week 2 in bengaluru and i must say that it is turning out to be quite an interesting place to have some lip smacking delicacies.
a much anticipated saturday lunch happened after hearing about the authentic vietnamese dishes available at phobidden fruit. the place was filled with guests and the captain, richard kindly showed us to our table.
the place is nicely lit and decorated with plants with decent seating. pronnoy helped us with our orders and we went for viet spare pork ribs and grilled beef in lettuce cups for starters. the food arrived quite soon, which was impressive. the pork was cooked to perfection. tender juicy meat covered in a sweetish sauce made the dish a delectable one. the portion size is decent. the lettuce used in the grilled beef was extremely fresh and crunchy and the meat was seasoned and cooked to perfection.
for the means, we chose to have the vietnamese pho with prawns and it was a great decision! a massive bowl full of flat noodles, vegetables and prawns in a lip smacking broth is what it was. the broth tasted excellent, mixed in the flavours of the veggies and meat and the seasoning. it was excellently cooked. full marks for the food! i left a happy and a heavier man 😄
it was an awesome experience here in phobidden fruit. thank you for the amazing service. see you again soon.

was moved by the serene ambience and the courteous staff. felt like dining in a vietnamese garden. we had hanoi lamb, pho and lemongrass pudding. the quantity is really good for the price charged and the food is really tasty. the service was a bit slow, probably due to the crowds, but they were really prompt when asked about the order status. the serving of the lemongrass pudding was not impressive, although the quantity and taste was. it was cut up from a block not once but 4 times, and it seemed that the serving was hurried. overall a 4, for the ambience, the delicious food, the courteous staff

they offer a pretty decent and cozy ambiance. the menu is very short and to the mark. the beef pho that i tried was very good and well balanced, they also provide a few condiments if you want to spice it up. the portion size was also proper.

the only place i have had vietnamese cuisine. i fell in love with this place and the food. very cozy ambience. quite crowded, yet the service is quick and prompt.

loved whatever i have tried so far.
appetisers - chicken pepper fry, chicken hoi salad
mains - spicy prawn fried rice
drinks - ginger lemon

visited just once, hopefully to visit again when i am in bangalore. i have to mention about the cozy interiors which gives a very urban touch to the look and feel.
