pete's fish and chips

best fish andchipsi've ever had - but way overpriced. this is the best fish andchipsi've ever tasted. it's way too expensive, so i can only afford to go on special occasions. you have to get a large piece of the fish if you want to get filled. it taste very fresh and is cooked to perfection. it's the "filet mignon" of fish.

my only other complaint besides the price is they serve you the fish on top of the fries in a very small basket. so it's hard to eat your food.

put it on a plate and lower your prices please. but i can also understand the high prices given the quality of the food.

a big disappointment. i went into pete's fish andchipswith high expectations due to the ratings i had read. i assumed that the prices on the menu would be commensurate to the quality of the fare. i was sadly mistaken.
the fries, while large, were previously frozen.
this, when improperly cooked, result in a potato with a greasy, semi-crisp exterior and a mushy undercooked interior.
they should taste the difference of a fresh , cold water soaked, fried potato.
as for the cod. it tasted as though it was also previously frozen, which when thawed and fried, results in a dry, overcooked, tasteless piece of fish. the batter, while attractive to the eye when fried, was greasy, overcooked and without the delicious flavor that makes for a tasty english fish and chips.
i found it interesting that the owner, when i tried to tell him of my opinion, shoved a written critique from some newspaper lauding his fare, and said this was written by a real professional, ignorantly and arrogantly assuming i don't know what i am talking about. i guess he showed me my place...or maybe not. so sad.
overall my experience results in the following only as a rating for:
the fish and chips,
not anything else on the menu.

i would not recommend this store.

there are numerous establishments that serve much better fish and chips..berts bar, the twisted conch, the cadillac, long john silvers, to name a few.

i got a regular order  1 fish and fries( not original type of chips) with 2 ounces of cole slaw. $11.95

beside the cole slaw being small, it was not very good. too sour.

the fish was a bit under cook...it was too moist but passable.

the other fish & chip joint gives you 2 piece with real chips.

i did pick up a steak/mushroom pastry for home very good.

if you do not like driving 20-30 minutes for fish andchipsthis is a good place.

service bright and cheery.

very tasty!  we got the fish &chipsand the fish, chicken, & chips.

lovely little place, it was packed when we arrived and remained so throughout our entire lunch.  one table would empty and folks would immediately fill it.  several takeout orders went out as well during the 30-45 minutes we were there.

both lunches came with coleslaw and the standard trio of toppings was on every table; ketchup, malt vinegar, and tartar sauce.

we also got two pasties to take home.  i'll report back in once we try those.

verdict - good food and lovely staff!

excellent fish and chips. pete's serves some of the best fried fish i ever ate! moist, tasty icelandic cod with a delicious golden batter. the large portion consists of one huge filet, about 9-10 inches long. on our first time, the bride and i split one large filet and once we tasted how good it was, we immediately ordered another. thechipsand slaw were also very good. $11 for the large meal. the non-alcohol drink selection is somewhat limited, but we got by. there are only a couple dozen seats or so in this strip mall location, so get there early! they also have fried shrimp and chicken, but we have not tried it yet.

first time customer. i have to say this place is top notch. the fish was so wonderful! we ordered ours to go and when picking it up we got a nod from the kitchen which was a special touch. the fish was fresh, hot & perfectly breaded and fried. it wasn't greasy and it did not have that old fishy taste you get at some places. pete's fish andchipsjust earned a new loyal customer. thank you for a great dinner!

i have some friends back in georgia from south africa. he turned me on to true fish and chip and i had been missing that wonderful meal down here. pete's fish & chip are exactly what i was looking for. if you know what true fish &chipsare you will love this place.

delicous. petes fish andchipsis the best fish andchipsive had in southwest florida and ive lived here 24 years . this was just as good as new england fish andchipsif not better . thank you urbanspoon !

we ate here for lunch today. a little pricey, but excellent. the fish andchipswere very good...not too much breading on the fish...with a good cod fish. i will go again.

i love pete's fish & chips!. i love pete's fish & chips! my family and i are 'regulars'. we always get the 'family bucket' because there's something for everyone. the staff is always friendly; always smiling. as my daughter is always telling me, every time we drive by the restaurant, 'pete's fish &chipsrocks!!'

really great. went with my mom and dad and three year old son. we could tell we were going to enjoy our meal based on the line up that formed prior to their opening for the day. despite the busy day, we waited less than 10 minutes from ordering to service. we all ordered the regular sized fish andchips- my son shared mine. the fish portion was huge - far too large for lunch unless you are a big eater! the food was crazy hot and we could not wait to drive in - it all looked amazing. three of us agreed that it was excellent, and we will be back. i love it when a restaurant does one main thing and does it well. pete's achieves this. i should add that although it is a small operation, the owners work very hard, and it shows. you could eat off of the floor. and they were so lovey to us, made us feel like we were right at home. awesome.

the food. the food is always good. tender inside fried to perfection outside. a rant is they should give the bigger & better steak fries and make it a stand out.
rave is customer service is always top notched.

the food. fish & chips.... always excellent fried to a golden brown. moist on the inside... cole slaw ,chopped fine and so tasty. a in house delish.
i venture out and tried the frozen pies. i heated in a toaster oven as directed.
wow.... the crust  was so flaky and wonderful. the ingredients was savory and so good. it was a meal unto itself.
service was stellar as usual.

a real chippy place. well i am impress and happy about a chippy place in cape coral. it is runned by a real brit. the fish is lightly batter and fried to a golden color. it was moist and flaky on the inside. they make their own cole slaw , in house, delicious . they have the necessary condiment of malt vinegar & of course tartar sauce.

the staff was very friendly and helpful. you can dine in or take out. i recommend dine in for the fish.
fried fish does not travel well it taste good but will become soggy.

so when i get a hankering for my fish &chipsthis will be my go to place.
