still the one. hadnt been here in a loooooong time, turns out since our last visit he has added a poblano mac & cheese to his arsenal. of course we ponied up for some of that, along with our usual favorites. happy to report that everything is still as delicious as it ever was and the mac & cheese was out of this world. some of the bbq joints in this town could sorely use that recipe, even minus the poblanos.
we both agreed; we need to start coming here again, and more often. (still) highly recommended.

the chile wills. man, it was cold out there this morning. probably wouldve been better to be wearing something other than my birkenstocks. but no! woe be gotten! toes be damned! this is green chile we are talking about here, and it waits for no one.
back on earth, it was a pretty simple affair. 2 breakfast tacos with eggs, potatoes, bacon, cheese and chile (1 with green, 1 with red) in a couple of nice and sturdy homemade flourtortillasplaced into my grubby mitts in exchange for $5.
i still have new mexico plates on my car. so this guy had better know what its all about, because i certainly do. happily for all involved, he did. he hit a trifeca between the green, the red and especially the tortillas. nothing sucks more than having a weak ass tortilla split apart and spill the innards of your delight all over the ground. no such problem at pepper box, histortillasare thick and strong because he makes them that way. it insures that every last drop ends up where it belongs; in your mouth. which is important when every bite delivers the goods like these (huge) tacos do. the green and red also delivered on that mystical flavor palate that had been nothing but a memory since we moved here all those months ago...
i believe this will be our saturday morning ritual from here on out. though i'll have to bring my own chocolate milk (hey! dont knock it till you try it.)
