this is a horrible place! terrible location with no parking except for a $3.00 self pay lot that you have to endure a stupid parking machine that wants your license tags before issuing a parking receipt. inside the place is run-down and dirty. the 'patio' is a joke – a fenced in, walled off filth-pen where the waitress walks up and immediately asks "are you ready to order". don't bother asking for a wine, beer, or drink list. they don't have one. aside from the worn-out, food-stained, crumpled-up paper menu, your wine choices are an airline-size "sutter home" mini-bottle or nothing at all.

chips were thick and hard.salsawas sweet and not very spicy. that's as far as we went. we left a two dollar tip and walked out. i don't know why anyone would eat here with this wait staff, this food quality, these drink options, and this inconvenient parking situation.

we were on stay-cation, trying new places and found this little jewel in deep ellum. the decor is simple but nice and there is a patio that looks like it would be great during cool weather. the staff was super friendly and talked freely about items in the menu. we were brought free chips andsalsaright after we were seated. the chips were a little thicker than most places, but warm and fresh. thesalsawas really fresh looking and was better than what you will find at almost any chain tex-mex place. we tried the chipotle enchiladas, i had the chicken and my wife hade the cheese-filled. they were both fantastic! i don't know how that chipotle sauce was made but it is awesome!!! i will definitely return and recommend pepe's and mito's to everyone.

had their signature dish, tacos nortenos. very great corn and flour tortillas. the meat had great flavor, but maybe a bit too runny. kind of made the tortillas a bit soggy. overall though, it was very good! their sides (beans and rice) tasted like any other tex-mex/mexican establishment. service was very good. kept the home made chips andsalsafilled a long with our drinks! i'll definitely be back!

best mexican food. husband and i went for lunch on a wednesday, because of course, i saw ddd, and it was the best mexican food we've had in a long time! the tacos nortenas, and a combo #5, with a chicken enchilada, spinach enchilada, and tamale. the food is fresh, stuffed with spinach and chicken, homemade, and w wonderful. the chips andsalsawas delicious, and they fry their own tortillas for the chips. we will be back, even though e live in mckinney! we will be back because it's worth the drive. and pepe's wife is a sweetheart.

i moved to dallas a little over a year ago and had more trouble finding a tex mex place to frequent. we've tried many of the "staples" manny's, marrianos, mi cocina, cantina laredo, taco diner and a few others along the way, but nothing really satisfied my tex mex craving, until we dined at pepe & mitos. we had steak fajitas and the homemade tortillas hit the spot. thesalsais really good as well. this place has all of the qualities i look for in tex mex--good salsa, decent prices and tasty fajitas.

don't judge the book by its cover. as we drove by pepe's at night, we saw the outside of the restaurant and the surrounding area. it is on a dark - run down part of the street, and can be quiet scary if you don't know dallas. my friends and i were so close to passing on the "ghetto" looking mexican restaurant, but after contemplating it decided to give it a try.

when you walk in the door, you completely forget about the area of town as the atmosphere is inviting and comforting. the host sat us down quickly, and we were served some of the greatest chips andsalsai've had. the waiter was great and spoke fluent english. i had the botanas, which was amazing, but my friends had the chimmy changa, nachos, and enchiladas. everyone was pleased after dinner and we were glad we decided not to judge the restaurant by its appearance from the outside.

10 out of 10. especially because of the cleanliness of the inside as well as the bathrooms. this is a must eat!

the food & the service were incredible. fabuloussalsa& guacamole. people's reviews were right about the chipotle wine sauce. that should be put on everything! i asked the manager who seated us if we needed to pay at the parking lot next door (because i hadn't seen anyone else pay), and she said "yes, what space are you in?" i told her & she said she would go take care of it for us. we never gave her any money and she said it was taken care of. we were in town for the final four, and we like to seek out locally-owned mom& pop places and this one delivered on all levels (i also own a restaurant and expect everything to be a positive experience). pepe's & mito's knocked it out of the park! many thanks.

on a friday night at 7 we only waited about 10 minutes for a table, which was reasonable. the chips andsalsawere good, as were the tortillas and queso, although they charge for both and the queso is nothing more that what you get for free at most mexican restaurants. the food was very good, and fairly priced. the only gripe with the meal i had was with the pace of service, we waited too long to give our order and also to receive our check. the waiters were very friendly, though, so it wasn't too bad.

this place is good, but not amazing. worth checking out, but not worthy of its 96% rating.

classic tex-mex with a one of a kind deep ellum flavor. pepe’s and mito’s in the end is my favorite restaurant on earth. that may seem a bit bold but it is more than just food to me. i used to work in deep ellum and would walk down to their older location at the end of the block. when i was young i watched a lot of movies and always wanted “my place” to eat where they knew me. and finally one day it happened. it was late afternoon and the sun was setting. i was in a rush but sat down anyways. i anticipated the waitress to hand me a menu but instead she turned quickly to me and said “the usual” i was stunned, my day had finally come. “yes please”, i answered with a silly grin. [full order of chicken fajita nachos and a large container of salsa] since then pepe’s and mito’s has moved west up the block to the old mechanic’s shop. they have converted the main garage space into their dining area with roll up door still intact for convertible patio space (very clever). the menu has since received an upgrade as well. you will find a great range of appetizers and entrees from queso to more specific tastes. my new favorite is the pollo al mojo de ajo. as always i hold them to mysalsastandards and they are a winner. p.s. margaritas are pretty great as well.

there was definitely hype from it being on diners drive-ins and dives but it was worth the hype. the tacos were awesome! the chips andsalsawere good, pretty simple and authentic. the tamales were pretty good, a little dry, but the tomatillo sauce was really good! i definitely recommend this place!

for a place that boasts about authentic mexican cuisine, it is very hard to understand why the chef would allow a thesalsaserved with chips to taste like ketchup. the chef is either in experienced or should not call himself a chef. the service was slow and the air conditoning was colder than the frozen margariitas. nope, i too don't understand the hype.
