ohpatty'syou broke my heart! when i started this series, i didn't have high expectations. i was really more curious to see what was out there and, you know, i started on some very high notes. i was pleasantly surprised at the number of quality burger joints that there were out there! then as luck would have it or, maybe, it's just the law of averages, i hit a clunker and i'm sorry to say it'spatty'sin south tacoma. patty's burgers and shakes is a small place on a nondescript chunk on tacoma way south that's riddled with used car lots, taverns and pawn shops. it's that urban blight you see so often when there's very little residential property, low leases and a high traffic flow. patty's is trying really hard for that classic 50's and early 60's diner look. a lot of james dean and marilyn monroe posters and a ton of muscle car photos. it all feels a little too contrived, as if somebody really scored big at a spencer's scratch and dent sale at a defunct shopping mall. but t
