walking around new orleans, makes you hungry. and all that food makes you thirsty. fortunately, new awlins is a drinking kinda town. i admit that even though i knew about the “drink on the street as long as it’s in a plastic cup” rule, it was still shocki

dirtiest bathrooms in the quarter!. 0 koño. omg! you needed a petri dish & gloves to go to the bathroom. nasty. the chicken & andouille gumbo was delicious. one night i had crawfish cakes they were very good. the next time i had braised short rib was a bit dry. went twice because they had gumbo with chicken and not seafood & one of the members of my party did not like seafood but was in serious need of soup if you know what i mean. otherwise just skip this place.

great if you're a college kid. once you grow up you wonder why you ever liked places like this. sure you can drunk here, big deal, you can do that anywhere. loaded with drunken tourists, a lot of them underaged , service who really doesn't care (why would they-it doens't attract regulars) and food that should just be forgotten. hubby told me he didn't want to go here on our trip but i made him and still hear about what a waste of time it was.

best hurricanes!. of course, this place is known for having great hurricanes. the food is good too. i have been multiple times and tried different things. the alligator bites and fried shrimp are the best.

save yourself the $20 and get a box of zatarans.. i was honestly torn with whether to dislike or like this restaurant. please read on.

"pat o'briens" make me fantasize about new orleans socialites from decades ago swooning over charming piano music, classy drinks, and good company. maybe this is the image they're trying to portray and i've been suckered in!

the drinks are fairly decent, but will cost you around $8 a pop. i like the hurricane, as well as some of their other specialty drinks, and it comes in a pat o'briens souvenier glass! you can sell the glass back if you don't want it, but hey, that's one less convenience store you have to stop off at to pick something up for "sissy".

the atmosphere is nice, great outdoor environment with fountains and fire. inside, i've been to the piano bar. it was a fun thing for my boyfriend and i to do on a sunday afternoon, with the two dueling pianos and ragged middle aged women boasting out vocals.

why i don't like it: the food. since urbanspoon is about food, i can honestly say you'll get ripped off, and the food is "new orleans generic". red beans, jambalaya, seafood...yes..these are traditional dishes, but they're not prepared well and there's no individuality to them.

so if you're looking for red beans and rice, honestly, zatarans box mix is better and only costs $2 as opposed to $15.

the service was great provided by sheerna (i think i spelled it right) but the drinks and food were horrible. we were a group of five with only three of us ordering food, the other only drinks. no one drinks were pleasing, red beans were cold, chicken was salty, and maffanotto (not spelled right) was fixed wrong, nasty, & hard.

as a college kid, had my share of hurricanes here, and the piano bar is still a popular attraction. they serve food here? i never knew that.... and if you like, yes, you can get your drink in a to-go cup and stumble all the way down bourbon st. drinking. la law allows that!

among nola's worst. the food here is absolutely appalling. the only positive votes it gets are from drunks who drank the hurricanes. if you taste the food here while sober you'll wish you hadn't.

wha??? huh??? no sir ossifer.. i think the first time i went here my wife and i actually ate... but i can't remember because we were out in the courtyard and drinking hurricanes.

the second time i went i was by myself and came for the hurricanes so i'm pretty sure i didn't eat. i did have a long conversation with a local musician at the bar although i can't remember what we talked about.

bottom line... the hurricanes will get you smashed and i'm pretty sure that's the only reason to patronize this establishment. not a bad reason. but people aren't going here for the food... because most will never remember it.

a final note. after drinking at pat o'briens be very careful as you leave that you turn back down the street toward your hotel. if you don't go the right way you'll stumble right into some rough housing projects. really the last place you want to be while hammered with a pocket full of cash and that glass you had to buy which immediately tags you as a drunken tourist. just a little tip from your uncle rufus.
