pappas totaly sucks!. restaurant alert!!! my family and i attended pappas restaurant on taylor ave. for mother's day and had a totally disappointing experience. to start with there was a very limited menu with only the highest price dishes offered. with each meal you are allowed 2 side but had only 6 sides to choose from and 3 of them were potatoes (mashed, baked or french fries). then you could choose from either cold slaw, asparagus or apple sauce and that was the only sides and customer could choose.....yuk! no corn, no green beans, no cesar salad and if you ordered a steak you could not get mushrooms or onions either. to make matters worse we had reservations, we were seated promptly at 1:00 o'clock but it took over an hour to get our meal. the service all the way around was poor. we couldn't get a drink refill without asking for it and every request took an extended period of time to be filled. the portions were small and my crab cakes were not very good. our meals were extremely over priced. the creme of crab soup appetizer cost $4.99 and was maybe an 8 ounce cup. the menu never said it was only a cup. ok you got me, i should have asked. and it was not just us, the people at the table next to us were complaining to the waitress about the lack of crab meat in their over priced appetizer. the whole experience was so bad with pappas exploiting the mother's day holiday with expensive meals and small portions that they will never get a chance at mine or my families business again. there is more but i'll stop here.

first, let me say, if you mess up a caesar salad, i'm not going to be impress with whatever follows for the meal. my salad came out and the dressing was in a small plastic solo container. the "dressing" was so gelatinous, it wasn't funny! i turned the container upside down and none of the dressing spilled out!! it was very thick and reminded me of mayo. in fact it sorta tasted like a tangy mayo..which made me nervous, as i was hoping it wasn't tainted. so i decided to eat the salad without any off the dressing. then when the crab cake came out, it was very pale looking and bland to the taste. i don't think i will be going there again. even if my meal was free!!

wish i could give this company a negative rating! if you want to waste your money, then order here. they shipped me damaged containers that soaked through the box and refused to refund the money! they said they needed pictures, of course, after the soaked box and crumbled plastic containers had been discarded. buyer beware! you've been warned.

review is for mail order only.  ordered $174.00 worth crab cakes and crab soup to be delivered on 22 dec 16, as a gift.  my order was never shipped.  hoped to enjoy my order for christmas, called and spoke to the manager, who said it was never sent out.  she offered a refund, or she would send the order out now, dec 28th.  my company has returned to the west coast.  thought maybe they would offer my order at cost or in some way attempt to make up for their error, but the manager was unconcerned.  seems they don't need any business, and have no concern for their mail order customers.  i'll take my business elsewhere.

stepping into the original parkville location of pappas is like stepping into a time machine. while the decor is on the old-fashioned side and the customers are, too, their lumpy 8-ounce crab cakes are a thing of beauty. they use colossal lump crab and darn little filler. they’re not overly spiced, either, so the sweet sweet flavor of the blue crab shines. if you’re looking for a pile of unadulterated crab, pappas’ is your place.   $$ 1725 taylor ave, baltimore, md http://pappasparkville.com       4. great sage i’m now going to make your head spin. while there are plenty of really good crab cakes around that use actual crab, one of my all time favorites is a crab cake made with no crab at all . that’s right–a vegetarian crab cake. vegan, to be exact, because great sage, in clarksville, about 25 miles outside of baltimore, serves no animal products of any kind. their “crab” cake is made with shredded hearts of palm, the moist texture of which mimics crab in a quite convincing manner. bo

good crab cakes, that's it. crab cakes were good... i've had better. the rest of the food was "meh" at best. service was abysmal. don't know if our waitress was having an off-day or what because everyone else around us seemed to be enjoying it.
will not be back. ever.

terrible!!! bad steak. bad pasta. bad potatoes. can't rate crab cakes as i don't have them often, but i didn't like them much. for $30 plus you expect a decent steak - this was terrible, tough and chewy.

pappas' crab cake is very good! the huge lumps of crab have a big, meaty flavor with a little bit of sweetness, and there were hardly any broken pieces. the binder has a little bit of flavor, but doesn't really add much unless you get a large concentration of it, as it does get a bit too saucy in some places. as mentioned before, the spice was lacking, but sprinkling on some of pappas' seafood spice does help create more of a flavor profile. but overall we were quite surprised at the flavor of the crab meat, which does hold its own quite well.

take your pick at pappas. they aim to please from old bay seasoned steamed crabs at their carryout to the sports bar and lounge where stepping on peanut shells is a common occurence to the fine dining restaurant section with white unprotected table linens . wow! pappas deserves to be recognized as one of baltimore's best restaurants. my review informal and unannounced was simply girl's night out. i had the opportunity of dining here once before after landing in baltimore. i was told by a buddy , "you have to try their crabcake." in search of somewhere to dine, i told a girlfriend of mine "let's do pappas. you have to try their crabcake." when dining in the fine dining section, your evening will begin with a fresh cucumber relish and bread. the cucumber and celery has the crunch snap of freshness. there are a number of economically priced daily specials. t
