very goodfoodand service for a very good price. as an eco-friendly person i appreciate the facts they provide sauces in bottles you can spread the right amount on samosas instead of individual and disposable ones and use a metal tray with 5 compartiments, practical to use instead of 5 plates and ecologic. they also dont overdose you with napkins everywhere and ask if you want to print the receipt or not. i will become a regular!

was enjoying a nice samosa when suddenly i felt something similar to plastic in my mouth. it was a bandaid! seriously? how gross! wtf? people working in restaurants should always wear gloves, then incidents like this would not happen. i have filed a complaint with with thefoodinspection division of the city of montreal. get your acts together! now!!!!

i adore this place. run by what seems to be an extremly hard working family as well, they're always nice to use, and even when completely full the service never takes that long either.foodis very well priced and delicious. a large meal for two can run you 30$, and it is also byow. thefoodis delicious and has always tasted fresh to us as well.
a good variety offoodas well, i've brought less adventurous friends and family there and they've adored it as well. perhaps it's because we go there so regularly, but when we ask for spicy they do not skimp on the spice.

amazing restaurant and some of the best indianfoodin montreal. if you want real indian spicy you just need to ask and they will do it for you :). people complained it was too spicy when the restaurant opened, and now people complain its not spicy enough haha... if you ask you will get what you asked for! they also have the best samosas i have ever tried (and i have tried at least 10 different places), and they are not oily... also i do not know why some people say it is expensive because for 2 people you can have 2 appetizers, 2 main courses, rice and 2 naans for under $40 with tip included... ive never seen this for a byob :)

highly recommend to give it a try!

great indianfoodin verdun :-d. delicious food, friendly service, reasonable prices and portions, what's not to love? also, the only place in verdun that sells dosa, which is a big plus in my book. we've been twice and everything has been wonderful. lamb and chicken are tender and juicy, the samosas are stuffed to bursting, the rice is fluffy, the raita and mango chutney are the perfect accompaniment to many of the dishes and the mango kulfi dessert is the perfect way to end your meal.

everything on the menu is mild to moderate (at least in my opinion) in terms of heat and spice; even dishes such as the jalfrezi and vindaloo, which should be very spicy, are only moderately so. i guess (like so many other restaurants) they've had too many customers tell them to "make it spicy" only to then complain that it was too hot, so they've had to keep everything in the mild to moderate range. having said that, if you ask for yourfoodto be very spicy, they'll be more than happy to kick up the flavor and the heat of whatever dish you've ordered.

not very good.. as a frequent patron of indian restaurants i was very excited to see a new one pop up very close to where i live. i read the reviews on urbanspoon which promised excellence. i was very excited to try this new place out. i didn't realize that all the "users" that made the reviews only had one review. this is a clear indication of self hype but i digress. i will break this review into 4 categories: atmosphere, service, food, price.

atmosphere:
i get that this place is new but the lighting was very bright and artificial feeling and the walls were completely bare save for a chalkboard of specials and some rinky dinky christmas decorations. if you are an indian restaurant, maybe throw up some posters of india or something? no biggie this is the least important part of the experience in my opinion.

service:
the service was pretty bad. it took an awful long time to get served. i could tell that other patrons were growing increasingly impatient. it's new so maybe they are unsure how to staff the place but the waitress was friendly but awkward, disorganized, and very slow. i don't think she has much experience in waitressing and may be a relative helping out. i am sure that they will get the hang of it eventually.

food: (the most important part! )
the menu is pretty decent. there is a good variety of options and they are well explained despite them being printed on take out menus. the only thing i think could really be improved is the fact that they should offer combos or thali specials. this is by far not a high class indian restaurant so i think thali options will help them stay competitive with other restos in their class. a la carte can get expensive quickly.
we ordered an entrée of samosas, bhaji, and papadams. while the bhaji and samosas were quite good they were exceptionally oily. a good sign of freshness but excessively oily can be a put off. my wife had to roll hers in her napkin. the sauces came in a squeeze bottle which is not very classy but easily managed by staff. the papadams sadly did not show up until well into our main courses. they were however quite good. our main dishes were chicken jalfrezi (me) and chicken korma (wife). i found the portions a bit on the smaller side to be honest. while they weren't bad i had asked for mine extra spicy as i am an avid vindaloo fan (i didn't get theirs because they put potatoes and that doesn't belong in real vindaloo) it was very very far from spicy. i have had spicier butter chicken (not a spicy dish) the flavour was good but not as i had ordered. the korma was all in all decent. i would say thefoodgets a 3/5 for over all quality and freshness.

price:
as i mentioned, they really need to get a thali/combo menu going. one "review" claimed that this place rivals pushap. for one pushap has a way better atmosphere. also, pushap is vegetarian and does it well. it's one of the few vegetarian places i go to because it is very good and very cheap. you almost forget about the lack of meat. palais d'ajit does not even compare to the price and quality of pushap. the a la carte pricing and lack of combos is it's real downfall. while the price wasn't terribly unreasonable it adds up quick if you want the real indian meal experience.

all in all i would say that it has potential but i would more likely take the trip up to park ex or even pte st-charles or cote des neiges for a better, deal and better service. all in all i give it 2.5 on 5

great dessert- excellent prices-very fresh, hope they keep it up.. i was very impressed with the dessert,( rasmalai) it was freshly made, which is not always the case. it was so good that i decided to try the gulab jamun which was also very fresh and tasty. this is not always the case in many indian restaurants. both desserts were only $2! now, that's a good deal. the spiced chai, was also good, it had fennel instead of cardamon. the menu prices are really great, and the owners (a family from the punjab) have made a point to have many choices under $10. bravo, for doing this.

i will go back today and try the soup which is priced at $2. that price is unheard of these days. if thefoodis as good as the desserts, this place should do well and be full in no time. it`s needs a bit more ambiance though. perhaps some art work, would do the trick. open 7 days a week at this point.

they really need to change the outside sign, as the it`s misleading. it`s says kebab du ville, which is the old resto`s name. very confusing.
