quite an adventure for lunch. went for lunch on a sunday. the restaurant wasn't busy thus we were seated immediately. the waitress appeared to be fairly new and we can live with that. i ordered the 6oz sirloin and a shrimp kabob , tortilla soup and a caesar salad. strange combination---right? my spouse ordered the grilledchickenand sweet potato along with a garden salad. in her case the salad was extra as that meal only comes with one side and the chicken. the other one in the party orderedchickenfriedchickenand broccoli. thechickenfriedchickenwas large and covered with gravy. there was a small loaf of brown bread and butter. the loaves are rather small and just enough for two people. the soup was served. tortilla---that was just warm. should have returned it to the kitchen but did not. the caesar salad was in a cold bowl however the lettuce was at room temperature and a little wilted. the steak was cooked exactly as ordered and was very good. there was a shrimp kabob on the side that contained four very small shrimp coated with a green sauce and a spoon of cooked red tomatoes. i ate the tomatoes and brushed the green "stuff" aside as i did not like the taste. the shrimp was just okay and i would not order again. thechickenfried state i was told was delicious. the person ordered another extra gravy to completely coat thechickenfried chicken. my spouse ordered the garden salad with dressing on the side.. the dressing never arrived and it was some time before the waitress came by the table and by that time my spouse had consumed the salad. the waitress offered to bring some dressing however another person showed up with a small cup of the dressing which was allowed to remain on the table as the salad was completely consumed.i ordered ice tea and the order two water. the ice tea glass was never refilled. one person ask for a refill on their water.i ask for my check and presented tow gs to pay for the meal which came to $39 and some cents. the two cards were for $40 and when the waitress returned to the table she advised me i owed an addition $13. i figured and refigured and it seem to me that the $40 in gift cards should cover a $30 meal and all i would owe would eb the tip. i ask her to recheck the math and it was obvious that was going to be a challenge. she said she would take the bill to the manager. when she returned the restaurant owed me about 50 cents and she apologized for the incorrect amount presented. rather than use a credit card which i knew was going to be confusing, i ieft cash for the tip. i think one might agree we have had an interesting lunch. would i return---i am probably nuts but probably would and just hope and pray for a different waitress.with this adventure i cannot rate higher than three stars.

better steaks at a lot of other places. for the past three nights our tv has displayed outback steakhouse ads promoting a steak platter with all you can eat shrimp. thus we took the family and headed for the nearest outback tonight. not many customers at 6:30pm and we were seated promptly and given a menu. we knew what we were going o order however there was a small problem. that special was nowhere to be found. our waiter appeared and we explained that we were there for the steak and shrimp special and he advised that was another menu so he brought us the second menu and then he cautioned that they were out of crispy shrimp and that only garlic butter shrimp was available.

perhaps i am just picky, but if i had paid for a national tv ad to get customers to come into my restaurant wouldn’t i at last have the ad specials? was there a substitute for the crispy shrimp, yes there was garlic butter which i do not like. he agrees to have my shrimp just grilled without the garlic. i ordered the 5 oz sirloin steak. we were served a loaf of bread with butter. in the butter cup was about a teaspoon of butter for the four of us and the bread loaf was so small, i at first thought it was a joke.

the food came and what was on my plate was 9 of the tinest grilled shrimp you could hope to find. one bite and you could consume all nine of them. since it was all you can eat i knew i would be asking for seconds and many more. the steak, now that is another issue. it was a chuck of meat about 1 1⁄2 to 2 inches think and about four inches long. i have no ideal what kind of cut it was. i ordered the steak “medium” and i took the table knife and tried to cut me a slice that was not going to happen, so i opted for the steak knife and like a saw i cut toward me time and time gain until a small slice fell to to plate. years ago i was a butcher in a grocery store and tonight i met my match was a chunk of meat that i was hoping came from a side of beef but where in that side i would not be able to determine.

the flavor of the steak was actually good, not too dry and being cooked medium just right. wish i knew what i was eating. ordered a refill on the shrimp which were dripped in butter and put on a grill for a short time. i think the hutter was there to cover up the garlic.

the waiter and manager cam by the table to see if everything was okay and could they get me anything else. i thought, but did not say, yes bring me a steak. as we left there were still many empty tables and i think i have a small clue as to why.

i know outback can do better than this and perhaps it’s just this location. i will head to another location the next time i see that tv ad.

good outback. we recently took a small party to this location for steaks. they were not disappointed as everyone had a very good meal. the service was excellent. plenty of free parking on site.

hurst
ever changing menu, ever increasing prices.. outback used to be one of my favorite places to go. now it might be a once a year event. we went to this one is hurst last night as it is closest to us. we arrived earliy enough to where we were quickly seated so that was good. one thing that i have never gotten used to is their ever changing menu and ever increasing prices on the menu. i've never seen a restaurant change menus so many times. the alice springschickenhas gone up $3 since the last time that i was there, and the portions seemed smaller. my wife's shrimp and steak dish had smaller shrimp than usual and a 2" by 2" piece of steak. of course the salads were extra too. my wife was noticing a couple management issues where the manager was trying to take an order because the waitress was busy, and he told the first time customers at the table that he hadn't taken an order in 5 years. i don't know. i will probably go back in a year or so, but it just isn't the vibrant, fun place that i used to like.
