osteria toscana

the food here so unbeatable—even the grumpy old waiter can't get me down. i've been to this restaurant (and even doordashed from it) countless times, and i've never had a dish i didn't love. 

if you want a great experience here, these are the dishes you will order:

antipasta— mozzarella di bufala e pomodori
sounds basic, but it comes in the most phenomenal lemony herbed garlic sauce you will ever encounter ever. they give you a loaf of sourdough bread when you sit down. skip the butter, and order this dish, and then ask for them to toast the bread. cry tears of joy when you dip the toasted sourdough in this herby garlic magic. 

pasta—gnocchi alla lucchese!
their gnocchi is the most fresh most sensuous pasta you have ever eaten. it comes in a meaty house sauce...but true osteria fanatics know to ask for pesto sauce instead. no extra charge, thank me later ;). 

tagliarini verdi con gamberetti
thin spinach pasta with shrimp, garlic and cream. so indulgent it'll probably take a year off your life but damn it's worth it and it probably would have been one of those wasted years anyway. 

plus, penne bolognese. just yum.

entrees—melanzana dei vegetarianothe *eggplant*! oh my oh my oh my. not overbreaded, just fresh and tasty! 

anyway. just come here and be happy and share pastas with whoever you come with! :)

don't eat here, terrible service. unless you want to be mistreated, avoid this restaurant.

generally, i don't mind so-so service and think that food is much more important. in this case, the food did not make up for the service. throughout the night we were virtually ignored, which was not a huge deal. then the bill came and was wrong. my fiance went to talk to the servers about the bill, and chris, one of the waiters, although not ours, told her she was wrong, which she wasn't (all the charges on the bill were wrong). he made her cry before correcting the bill. completely unacceptable. the rest of the staff didn't seem happy with what chris did, but did nothing about it.

good fresh pasta, but unless you want to me mistreated by the staff, avoid at all costs. plenty of other good italian restaurants where you won't be mistreated/made to cry for pointing out that the bill they gave you was completely wrong.

the person who is supposed to greet the customers was extremely rude. he did not even talked to us when we mentioned that we did not have a reservation. i didnot have courage to go back there or even bother to make reservation. they cannot treat customers as if they are better than everyone else.

this is my husband and my favorite italian resteraunt. the food is always hot and quick, it's also very tasty! we have been going here for years and they are constantly packed out so make a reservation. the meals can be a little pricey but are well worth it!

poor service, over charged us, and then asked us to leave when we were done cause they were busy! if you want an enjoyable evening stay away!

osteria is a small, neighborhood italian spot in downtown pa. we had a very nice meal, complete with fresh pasta, salads and bubbly.
