worst restaurant i've experienced in a long time. it's a urban type restaurant so i feel people won't say much. it was my first time there with my 5 year old and my sister with her husband. we had a great time at the bar waiting for our table. bartenders we great. ordered calamari thought it was good didn't think the sauces we great but for the atmosphere i would come back i thought. we got out table. this place is small for the had tables anywhere they could fit them. not good! i ordered mahi mahi. my sister ordered pasta to share with kyle. my food was extremely salty so was the pasta. waitresses said my meal will be on the house including a desert. they didnt try to make me a new dish or fix it. i was to eat my salty salty fish! another waiter arrived and tells kyle they have made the pasta dish for twelve years and he is confident that the dish taste fine. in a rude tone. kyle said i've eat this dish before and we love it but it's really salty this time. the waiter said i'm not going to make you the same dish order something else. he was extremely proud of his food and extremely rude to us. me and the waiter confronted each other, he then said we had to pay for our meal. we refused and walked away since the waitress said our meal was free. we will never return this restaurant.

this place is amazing! we ordered the spiedini and chicken walnut pasta. both were so delicious, i can't pick which one i like better. prices are reasonable, nice atmosphere and wait staff. best food i've had in a long time, highly recommend it!

great food! great place!. love this quaint place and love the food. it's always a treat to have great italian food!

best place in town. i love this place, food is always very good, service is excellent and some of the friendliest wait staff in the city. bar tenders are the best, they often have my drink waiting for me by the time i get from the front door to the bar.

love, love, love it!. oh - this little hole-in-the-wall south of the plaza, just down the street from umkc... it's so good! i love their 1/2 price appetizers during hh. unfortunately, it took me 6 years to find out they had a hh. everything is so good there - my mouth is starting to water thinking about it. i think i've had everything on their menu and still can't pick a favorite.

great food. great atmosphere. great service.. my parents took me to il centro for my 21st birthday, and it was the perfect evening. the staff was very helpful in offering wine suggestions for me as a first-time wine drinker. (we ended up deciding on a german riesling, which i enjoyed. i have no real point of comparison because of my limited wine experience, but my parents said it was very sweet and a good riesling.)

i had the chicken pesto tortellini. the chicken was well-seasoned and not dry or overcooked, and the pesto sauce was light. and, you will definitely be taking home leftovers. one entree is easily 2-3 servings.

while il centro may be a little more expensive than the neighboring minsky's pizza, it is definitely worth it for a nice evening out or a special occasion. you will get delicious food (and plenty of it) for your money, and enjoy it in a friendly and laid-back atmosphere. while il centro is definitely what i would consider a "nicer" or "more formal" restaurant than i'm accustomed to as a college student, i didn't feel out of place. i would highly recommend this restaurant to couples and small groups of friends of all ages. it's a wonderful atmosphere in which you will enjoy a delicious meal.

note: il centro isn't very big, so if you go on the weekends, there might be a wait, but we were seated right away when we went at 7pm on a thursday. the restaurant does not take reservations.

amazing!!! one of kc's best!!!. if you're looking to break away from restaraunt chains (pun intended) and have a great energetic evening with some of the best food and best people in kc this is your place!!! the wine list is never ending and the food... the food is just off the scale. i've sampled almost everything on the menu over the 13 years i've been coming here and have never been disappointed. get there early or get there expecting to enjoy a few drinks at the bar before dinner because this place is small and the locals fill it up fast. my favorites include the chicken walnut pasta, orrecchiette carbonnara gorgonzola pasta, spiedini or the lasagna for a main dish - the goat cheese spread for an app and the tiramisu for desert... i promise this place will be come a favorite very quickly!!!

fabulous food. the atmosphere is one of my favorite's in kansas city. it's a small, intimate restaurant with great lighting and music. the wine list is very large and they offer specialty drinks as well. our server was sub-par but the menu has tons to offer and our food was simply fabulous. you will not be disappointed!

great atmosphere, disappointing food. i recently went to osteria il centro on a thursday night. there was a significant wait, but i expected it due to the number of tables and the time we arrived. service left something to be desired. we had the shrimp/artichoke appetizer which was really great. we decided to split the chicken spedini entree and were very disappointed. the chicken was dry and lacked flavor. i was hoping for something a little bit more considering the high cost of the menu. i would go back for a drink and app., but not a complete meal.

subpar at best. this restaurant was recommended to me by multiple friends to take my girlfriend there for her birthday. they figured it was a nice corner restaurant with a great atmosphere, which it turned out to be. unfortunately when we arrived the service was subpar. we we snobbishly greeted and told that we would have to wait and she walked off. after a twenty minute wait (which was no big deal) we sat and waited for water for 10 mins. while we waited for the water we looked over the menu and had a few questions. i explained that this was my first time at the restaurant, the waitress was not pleased to answer the questions. the food turned out great and the atmosphere was good as well. just wish the service was a little better. i am willing to give another shot just because the food was decent.

my favorite italian restaurant in kc. i *love* il centro...the entire experience is just what i want when i go out to eat. the restaurant is small and crowded, but that is what makes it so fun. waiting for a table at the bar is more than just passing the time...the bar staff is friendly, wine flows like wine, and you have a good excuse to stand extra close to your date. :) i am never disappointed by the food...my favorite is the chicken pesto tortellini...so delicious!

great food and service. wonderful wine list. killer veal meatballs and chicken marsala. but ask for more red sauce.

worst restaurant in kc. this is most definitely the worst place in kc. i read raving reviews of this place online and decided to try it myself. upon arrival, i was told it would be a 45 minute wait. which is to be expected at any restaurant on a saturday night. after waiting 45 minutes in the entry way in single digit temperatures, we moved into the front door/greeting area for the remainder of our 1 1/2 hour wait. this restaurant is loud, crowded, and poorly set up. after we finally got seated, we did have good service from the waitstaff. there were several loud tables, including one that had a man wearing his napkin as a mask. i realize that this is not the problem of the restaurant, however it is not good 'ambiance' as the rest of the reviews i read stated. our salads tasted like bagged grocery store salad that hadn't been rinsed. my husband's lamb chops (ordered medium) were cooked inconsistantly. one was medium, one was medium well, another medium rare, etc. the rosemary mashed potatoes were runny and tasted as though they were nothing more than instant mashed potatoes with some seasoning on top. my chicken tagliata was horrible. the chicken tasted like a frozen grilled chicken patty with some frozen mixed vegetables on the side. this food was awful!! we only ate it because at this point we'd been at the restaurant for over 2 hours and wanted to leave!!!! never again! i would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!!!

slow service. prego tasting sauce.. too bad since this is a nice corner joint, but ten minutes to get service, and then waiting for bread that was average, only to be followed by a lasagna with a red sauce tasting like prego.

good food...cozy atmosphere!. all four of us enjoyed our meals, and i had enough on my plate for 3 meals (leftovers were just as superb). from the antipasti platter through the salads to the main courses, we all enjoyed ourselves...don't let the exterior fool you. this place is the real deal and kinda envelops you in its ambiance once you get inside.
