took my husband and a couple family members for a long awaited visit to ulla for his birthday and enjoyed a stellar meal. there was nothing that wasn't beautifully presented and simply spectacular tasting.

my tuna tataki was to-die-for...i am still thinking about it 3 days later.

if i had to pick one thing i would have liked better - would have been a bigger wine list but honestly - eveything else was so refreshing and spot-on, that i don't even care that much.

thank's ulla for setting the bar so high. you will give other restaurants something to aspire to.

well we have found our new favourite restaurant.
we were there last night for dinner and everything exceeded our expectations.from the moment we arrived until we left. service and food were exceptional. well done ulla !!!!!

fine dining experience of gastronomic proportions! when ulla joined the victoria restaurant scene several years ago i heard exquisite details from locavores and food lovers about the tender loving care with which their food was prepared. although a fancy restaurant by victoria standards, ulla still has a comfortable feel. the space is small and intimate, with high ceilings and lots of light. bright, whimsical artwork and a bookshelf chock full of cookbooks (including the star trek cookbook!) line the walls. the food here certainly is prepared with a monumental amount of effort. plates come adorned with gastriques and flourishes carefully executed to accentuate the other flavours on the plate. they are one of the only restaurants in victoria who uses molecular gastronomy in their food, which creates a finished product that is very precise and technical.

always the best. ulla, you keep me coming back. the first time i went, by boyfriend asked if it would be one of those places with big price tags and small servings. we were both amazed by the quality of food. every time i have the short rib steak because i just can't get past how amazing it is. my man has gotten the pork and chicken and loved them both. he said the pork was the best he ever had. this is such a great place to have in town. the service is outstanding, the owners friendly and unpretentious. we always feel welcome whether dressed to the nines or wearing jeans. i just can't say enough great things about this place. thanks for making a birthday dinner so memorable!

great food. this is a must for foodies in victoria!!! expensive but worth every penny.

fabulous !. we were too late in the week with our call for reservations on a sat.so had to sit at the bar to eat. what a great spot ! fabulous food,great service and a wonderfully entertaining bar tender. sevice was amazing ! we got there early at 5:30 and just managed to get in.food beautifully prepared and interestingly presented. we left at 7:30 only because there was a lineup to get in,not because we we wanted to go. we had such a great time . great food,great service wonderfully entertaining and creative bartender ! you have to try the quail and the fried polenta !

probably the best pork loin i've had outside of denmark! a foodies paradise!

great food with some regrets. it's no doubt the food at ulla is innovative, fresh & of great quality. i have to say however that my (many) lovely dining moments there were greatly overshadowed by a dinner there a few months ago.

not only did the waitress break a glass over my dinner companion, spilling wine on him, what was worse was she only offered a small apology and continued on. it happened mostly due to the fact that she was serving from the wrong side which in a restaurant with a zagat rating of 29 you'd expect they'd have those things down pat. offering a credit on the cheque for the wine at least would have gone a long way.

ulla leaves nothing to be desired food wise, why not have your service & dress code of your waitresses match the caliber of your fare?

tasting menu with matched wines is very good.

some of the best food in town. you don’t know what food really should taste like until you eat here. the flavours are just out of this world. they have plenty of good wines and fun cocktails too and the atmosphere and staff are always relaxed and very helpful.

such a great dining experience. this was our 1st trip to canada (kansas city is our home) & our meal at olo was a highlight of our stay in victoria.

this is quite a busy place so don't expect quiet conversation! they offer a short menu and prices are reasonable. we started with some garlic mayo cubes and a dish of corn bread - i preferred the latter! then for the main entre i had the gnocchi - a bit too greasy for my liking. service was good.

came here for my birthday dinner and was seriously impressed! there is a great casual, unpretentious vibe but with some delicious dishes. i had the endive/pickled strawberry salad and the halibut (with cabbage fennel and mussels) both of which were delicious. my husband had the steak with potatoes different ways and chimichurri which he said was awesome and rivaled another resto which is known for its steak frites ;) . their wine and beer list had a great selection of local interesting drinks. service was great (i really appreciated our server giving us lots of time to decide on our drinks/ meals - she was very patient. plus she brought out a little birthday candle in a small dish for me!) this place is a new favourite!

this place literally just took my favorite brunch spot in bc. the fried egg and chili sausage was insane! the egg was fried to absolute perfection and sausage had just the right kick and was bursting with flavor. the mixture of sliced root veg and carrot with pickled onion was so balanced with the rest of the dish i didn't want it to end, and would definitely come back for a repeat of this fish. make sure you try their fresh cornbread and honey butter to start! also, i love that they offer desert options to finish of the meal! won't be long before this is the hottest brunch spot on vic. they only opened up for brunch recently...
