olive's greek taverna

worst service perhaps ever. i went there on friday with my husband. it was freezing and there was air conditioning blowing un us despite it being cold outside. our waitress stopped to get a pad and pencil in the middle of me giving my order because apparently me asking for no olive and onions was too much. but not only did she stop in the middle of taking an order but she went and got and delivered food to another table next to us first. i asked for a side salad "to start" and didn't get it until my entree came. i wanted to say something about it considering there was an unusually long wait for our dinner but she never came by to our table. she went to other tables and asked how their food was and delivered there salads and didn't even look at us. then we finally got our food and the salad was on the side of my plate and not worth the $3 it cost to get it with my meal. probably the rudest waitress i've ever had. its one thing to get bad service but another to see service given to everyone around you by the same person while being ignored. never again.

overpriced. i think this restaurant is overpriced and the food portions are too small.

fantastic food, fun location near the erie canal in pittsford. we are partial to their gyros and sweet potato fries. strongly recommend.

i am 1/2 greek myself so i know real greek cuisine when i taste it - i also know a great tavena when i find one. i came to olives with a party of 10 family for a reunion dinner - the purpose was to share my greek heritage with the other members of my extended family that are not greek. the place was extremely busy with a coupon promotion going on - but that did not stop the awesome staff of this establishment from producing delicious food - attentive service and a atmosphere for me and my other nine family members - if you are looking for a memorable experience for a family gathering or perhaps just you are looking for something different you got it at olives!

disappointed.... i too visited the restaurant last, june 12, 2013. olives was of my favorite restaurants until now because something happened/changed. the food was one of my favorite things about the place along with the quaint location. the portions have dramatically decreased and the food was tasteless. i ordered the greek fries along with the coconut shrimp & salad. the fries were served in a little round bowl & had more feta than fries! in the past it was a mountain of fries served on a plate enough for 2 or more...the quality, quantity & the cost is no longer worth the trip for me!

so mediocre. i am stunned to see the approval rating is generally positive for this place. i have been here half a dozen times because it's a convenient place to meet up with my friend, but i finally feel the need to say the food is completely mediocre and i can't stand the thought of paying for their overpriced food ever again. the wait staff has been nice to us, i will say, but the food is not worth the money in my opinion. and the fact that i never seem to have enough cash for the bill and have to use an atm fee and get charged a fee for that just adds insult to injury. the pizza i ordered last night tasted like frozen pizza and it was just the last straw for me.

greek fries....first and last time... we only get the gyros because we like them and they are ok for a quick meal..but the fries??? my guess is they are frozen ore ida...soaked in olive oil and some tasteless greek seasoning...shame, shame...you give so much attention to label 7, why not olives?? it is not that hard to have some fresh cut french fries. people love fresh cut fries. we have given you so many chances..this is probably the last time...wendy's fries (a chain) are even better.

disappointed. i've been here before for lunch and enjoyed it. talked my husband into going for dinner. they don't take reservations for parties fewer than 3. had to wait quite awhile for a table for two. the "new" bar room is nice and the bar looks nice but there is no bartender- just really odd. so, if someone sits at the "bar",one of the waitresses has to run behind there and serve them.
my biggest complaint was that there was a kitchen worker ( dishwasher ?) who for some unexplained reason was all over the restaurant and in and out of the restaurant many, many times, and he was really unappetizing to look at and realize that he was anywhere near your food being prepared. he had longer stringy hair, a large, stained, sweaty (wet) t-shirt hanging out ....
i'm sorry - but why was he constantly parading around the restaurant??? i also hate the one bathroom - which he was also in and out of twice while we were waiting for our table. yuck.

always really enjoy a meal here. my favorite is the chicken and pine nuts in phyllo. have noticed that prices have gotten quite a bit higher since the (very nice) bar room addition though. we don't go as often as we used to because of that. more likely now to head over to aladdins right down the road for an everyday bite and save olives for a special occasion.

good choice for a casual meal. sit outside for a enjoyable evening with a bottle of wine and a pizza. good service with friendly staff and a great greek menu selection. when we are in the area we always stop here.

not great. my husband and i went for our anniversary... we had been here once before over a year ago and thought it was decent and we wanted to give it another try. the food was really not that good, and the service, while friendly, was very slow. our food arrived in a timely manner but we had to ask to have our water glasses refilled after they had been completely empty for more than 20 minutes. we did enjoy the one appetizer we had, but it was all downhill from there. the presentation of the food on the plates was amateurish, and the meals were incredibly average- i've had much better greek food at family diners and for less money. the dessert we ordered was a huge disappointment. everyone at olives is very welcoming, and even with the inattentive service we might have given it another try, but the less than average food and the lack of attention to detail will prevent us from ever returning.

used u.s. to find n was very pleased w service and food. we had to call a taxi after n they called and made sure the taxi found us quickly. great experience. highly recommend

best greek in town!. been eating lunch and dinner and this place on and off for 5-6 years, always great food!!! love the location!

great lunch. celebrating 40th anniversary. happened upon olive's while taking a walking tour of pittsford. i had a greek salad with grilled zucchini and chicken; he had a salad with grilled asparagus and chicken. we both felt that these were the best "new" and "fresh" tastes we had been served recently. also, the greek beer was very flavorful and had a good "mouth feel" that persisted for a while. ate on the sunny deck. a great afternoon!

great fresh food. i have eaten at olive's maybe 6 times. they always have fresh tasting food. i love their appetizers...hummus, baba, and saganaki. my mouth is watering already....

they have luscious gyros, moussaka, pizzas, salads and the typicals greeks desserts....my absolute favorite, baklava, dripping with honey. yummmmmm. they serve beer and wine to accompany their tasty cuisine.

one note...it is a cash only establishment. they do have an atm at the restaurant if you run into an issue.
