probably in every montreal city guide. touristy, it is. long lines, it has. expensive, yep. but darn it the food is so good we put ourselves through it again and again!

pleasant enough but the breakfast options were limited and the coffee tasted like it had been around since the days of pierre trudeau.

an all time favorite!. when people ask me where to eat in montreal, i always send them here. this long-time favorite gourmet lunch spot of mine serves fantastic sandwiches (i personally recommend the cajun chicken/mango/avocado sandwich) and soups, and most of the pastries and snacks are to die for (seriously). the cheese and herb scone was particularly memorable, and the coffee is also good. what's not to like?

i must add that the decor and ambiance is awesome and inviting, but you should also know that it's always packed, and there is always a line-up, no matter what time you go. regardless, it's worth the wait!

they have a great cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and great pricing to go with their great food. jaime suggested going here in the morning to get a good selection of their croissants, muffins and cookies. the case was pretty much empty when we arrived so it looks like we’ll have to make a return here very soon!

o&g is a weekly indulgence i've come to love on a thursday afternoon. the green salad exudes freshness and simplicity, while the truffle macaroni is a perfect parmesan and pasta melt. their ginger iced tea is exceptional; i imagine the somewhat steep prices are a reflection of the ingredient quality, however restaurant goers should admire the owners' commitment to locally grown and home-made philosophy on food. the atmosphere is charming and inviting, and my personal experiences with staff have been favorable. a must try in my opinion.

they had a great review and a line out the door when we arrived, so we figured we couldn’t go wrong. at 1:30 p.m., the restaurant was packed, packed, packed, and we were surprised when the hostess told us it’d only be a 25 minute wa

a montreal mealtime must. possibly my favorite place to eat in montreal.

the hot goat cheese panini with housemade ketchup and the cubain panini with homemade mayonnaise are always amazing and full of flavor.

the soups are consistantly delicious.

my go to pastry was the blueberry tartelette though they have many to choose from.

their own iced tea is deliciously thirst quenching and perfectly sweet when it's on the menu (different from the elixir).

everything else i have tried has always been good but the list is limited as it is simply to hard for me to say no and stray away from my favorites.

worth the wait, hands down. we visit olive et gormando every time we're in montreal (which is saying a lot as there are so many goid restos that we try to make every meal 'count'),and it never disappoints. i've never been when it hasn't been packed, but it's always worth the wait. don't miss trying the house-made ricotta plate (so good it's hard for me to order anything else), cuban (cubain) sandwich, and the salted caramel bar. ridiculously good.

montreal eats featured below are some of our montreal eats, excluding our three dinners at garde manger, les 400 coups (best meal of the trip) and joe beef. i will apologize in advance for the lack of photos in the actual restaurants or of missing food items, either in my excitement, laziness, my distracting bellyache or for consideration of other diners (due to lighting issues, my persistent flash could not have always been welcome). i hope you enjoy what i have here and stay tuned for my dinner posts coming soon! 1. schwartz's montreal deli (3895 boulevard saint-laurent, montreal ) our very first stop in montreal, we had to get our hands on some smoked meat. as my boyfriend and i are huge fans of katz's deli in nyc, it only made sense to go straight to this montreal institution. we arrived late afternoon, so lucky for us we did not have to wait in any lineup (which i hear is often very long). we ordered two medium fat sandwiches (in hindsight, i should have probably ordered fat) but

it was on the pricier side for a pay at cashier cafe, but it was worth it based on quality and effort. it is a place i would return to even as a tourist who likes to try something new. it came across as reliable and consistent and better than your average cafe, and you can tell it has a loyal following. it stands out and i certainly wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to make a bigger dent in this menu.
