this was my first restaurant i visited after my arrival in columbus from far far far place. and this place didn't disappoint me at all. a warm welcome to food diversity in america.
i was here during lunch time on sunday. very busy and vibrant place. loved the aroma in the air, fresh food and great colors.
i fell for the biscuit i had in my breakfast platter, crispy and at the same time fluffy. hot chocolate was great too! also, i couldn't take my eyes off the carrot juice my friend had ordered.

so good! i get the tofu wrap with a peanut sauce (the name currently escapes me) and sweet potato fries and it's yummo! i wish they were a bit less pricey but meh...doesn't deter me from visiting!

i like northstar. i went for dinner and had the cheeseburger, it was cooked perfect and tasted great. i also had a apple cider and it was the best apple cider i have ever had. the breakfast is great too. highly recommended.

raised prices too high. i love the northstar burger and kale salad, and am willing to pay a little extra for them. unfortunately northstar recently raised the price for both items beyond what even i am willing to pay. a burger and drink will run you almost $18, as will a salad and drink. sorry, but who is going to spend $18 on a burger or salad, no matter how good? even worse, northstar also recently started asking for tips in a particularly in-your-face manner. this is for ordering at the counter -- there is no wait service. northstar used to advertise that tips were not needed because they pay their staff an adequate wage. did they cut wages for staff at the same time as they raised prices?

sorry, but if i'm going to pay $18 plus tip for a meal, i want something more than a counter-service burger or salad.

well, yeah!. this place is just "meh", at best. does it deserve "best" of anything?, no. it's been gentrified to a a chain with no heart, get over the name and the reputation it had, because it is no more. there is better in columbus people, wake up! hash with black beans with no flavor or meat to mention of, wraps that are bland and flavorless, is this what we're known for? speak up, speak out.

cocktail hour? yes. brunch spot? no.. i know everyone really likes northstar, but i was not overwhelmed. the big burrito is $9 because it's big enough to serve two people, and my friend got the ricotta pancake but didn't have much to say about it. she also didn't finish her carrot juice. i do like that they make their own margarita and gingerale syrups, and i think i'd like to try one of their >$10 salads one day, but not any time soon. if i go back in the next year, it will be for a cocktail.

northstar, please add tempeh!. we vegetarians love the food at northstar! the veggie burger is awesome, the buddha bowl is delicious ... and my hubby has dreams about the thai burrito. my only suggestion is that they include tempeh as an alternative to meat. many of us have thyroid issues and clash with tofu. tempeh, however, is fermented soy and does not interfere with the thyroid. hope this gets forwarded to someone in charge!

it's... alright. i had the buddah bowl and it was decent, just way too expensive for what it is. next time i'll try the black bean burger. i hear that's the real gem.

overhyped. i want to eat healthy, but that includes not eating raw eggs. two of us ate breakfast at the northstar last sunday and each ordered the only bacon/egg option. my scrambled eggs had a liquid center and, although i had requested well-done bacon, my bacon was cooked less than my daughter, who i had taken for breakfast. i gave her my bacon, ate the huge piece of bread with berries they call a biscuit and the potatoes. the bread and the potatoes were actually good. i was surprised nobody came to ask how our meal was, but i suppose they did not want my opinion then or now. i was quite disappointed and know where to buy my own organic eggs. i also know how to cook the eggs, so i don't plan to return.

hard to ignore just how consistently good this place is. since we came here from california in 2012, northstar in clintonville has been our favorite. every time, be it burger, salad, what have you, it's just been first rate. we've taken all our guests there, as we were taken there before we moved here. not a bad experience in the bunch.
