a rose like any other. after a day of wine tasting, a friend and i had an early dinner here. a special was fried green tomatoes and they were delicious. almost as soon as we ordered them, a gentleman working for the restaurant removed them from the special chalk board... that tells me the food is fresh. the pickled vegetables were delicious as well. i had the ruben special and loved it..it was on sourdough that was toasted vs rye. my partner had the burger and raved about it. ordered fries extra crispy and voila..that is how they were delivered. the service was very efficient and cordial. this is a no miss.

service was great asked waitress if you have kids meal as i dont eat much was happy to half the food. ordered the field salad with blue vein cheese was lovely. family ordered the burgers with soft egg and shared a side of fries

terrible service. the vegetable soup we ordered was cold with very few vegetables. the waiter was slow with our order and did not check on us very often. in addition, the food portions were not equal among tables. for example, the table next to us got three scoops of ice cream on their apple cranberry tart, while we only got one scoop (the table next to us did not ask for extra ice cream). also, we were sitting near the bar watching the baseball game after paying for our meal when the manager came over and asked us to leave because he wanted to give the table to someone else. the manager was rude, sarcastic, and insensitive. i have never seen a manager ask a paying customer to leave the restaurant, especially when a postseason baseball game is on. we will not be going back to norman rose.

service was awesome! the waiter had the chefs split our salad on two plates which was awfully nice! best truffle fries and a little mound of parm on top! but hands down, the pork chop was delish, brussel sprouts were super tasty and crispy! everything was reasonable priced and worth every penny!

they were full but the servers were very attentive and the food was very good....burgers rock! wine was perfect temp, loved it!

awful staff. we stopped in on a tuesday night and was told there would be a 10 minute wait for two, which was just fine. the first thing however that threw us off was when the hostess mikayla told a party of 6 on the phone that there was no wait, but obviously there was, as we were waiting ourselves. we didn't think much if it, as we figured we would get seated before them anyways. mind you, this place doesn't take reservations for parties fewer than 8, as we tried to book a table for new years eve, so i was under the impression that they couldnt hold a table for them. we wanted a booth so when a couple finished up at a booth i asked mikayla the hostess if we could take the booth, but she said she was holding it for the "party that was about to come in." meaning although we had already been waiting (and it was more than 10 minutes...) we didn't have first choice of seating, and thus contradicting what they told us the previous night when we tried to book a party of 5. we thought about waiting but instead grabbed our coats and walked out. as a company that i am sure relies on word of mouth, i will gladly not recommend them as their customer service is absolutely terrible. we left and went to fume, which was far superior anyways and we were seated immediately, at a booth of course.

this is a great option for casual dining with upscale takes on pub and american comfort food ... with several televisions placed across the bar area, it’s also a great place to watch sports in napa ...

had the lamb burger and it was excellent. service was great and the people at the bar seemed to be having a great time.

looking for a casual and comfortable bar/restaurant to go with friends for great food and tvs showing the game? this is your place. if you’re not in the mood for their excellent fish and chips, then a cheeseburger, hot dog, or grilled chese sandwich can be ordered here as well as fries made four different ways – natural (sea salt and pepper), bbq, truffle & parmesan, or “disco” (with pork sausage gravy and cheddar cheese).

the french fries and fish and chips were fantastic but the flat iron steak was too salty and tasted like charchol. i had also mentioned it was my partners birthday ( which it really was ) and nothing was done. there was another party with a birthday as well and they got the routine happy birthday and a dessert. we were ignored. the food is good not great. it was nice to not need a reservation. the people... alright. but i'll give it a like because it wasn't the worse.

after all day of wine tasting in napa valley, a quick snack was needed to east off the buzz. once again thanks to my micheline guide, i pointed to norman rose tavern , a gastropub known for "classic, american comfort food". i went there searching for a ta

overly salty and oily food. it's easy to add flavor to food by adding fat and salt. the problem is, is this the type of food you want to put in your body? for a restaurant billing itself as a cut above i find the "cut above" part certainly applies to the prices and selection of menu items but certainly not in the preparation of the food. the two times i have eaten there i have ordered off the daily fresh board. prices were high, in each case ($15-$20 for a lunch entree), which i wouldn't mind if the food justified the price. however, when my pan-seared halibut came in a soup of salty butter and the mashed potatoes on which the fish sat was similarly infused with salt and butter galore i had the distinct impression that this was a very unhealthy meal.
my partner ordered the same dish and made comment of the same thing. neither one of us being health food fanatics, you can draw your own conclusions about how much salt and butter is being used by the cook.
bottom line, tasty food but i won't go back.

if you turn away any sized party at eight o'clock on a sunday night you need to reconsider management. how well they lose business and turn first time patrons, locals at that, who won't ever recommend or give business to ever! snobby hostess and incompetent supervisor make for poor service and repeat business...
