loved the pot so was excited to visit its replacement, nido. unfortunately, i and my fellow diners, left unimpressed. food wasn’t great and portions were very uneven, but all tending towards minuscule. the raviolo was undercooked to the point of tasting like raw lasagne sheets. the tiramisu cornetto for dessert was nothing more than a cannoli for $15. no coffee flavour, no savoiardi. very underwhelming. won’t be back.

we decided to eat at this restaurant after seeing lauren cook on master chef and given the title of pasta queen. i thought this would be a wonderful meal i was so excited about eating here but the experience was terrible. firstly we had booked a table (a month ago) instead was told to sit on the bench and perhaps wait until something thing come up. we waited a while and watched others been taken to the tables but nothing was offered to us. ok, so we moved on from that and decided to order entree we opted for honey ricotta and that’s exactly what we got whipped ricotta and honey and fried bread very boring and nothing special. for mains we ordered 2x pasta tagliatelle with pepper it was uneatable, the pasta was raw and the dish inconsistent one had sauce and the other no sauce and one was full of pepper and not much else. lauren if you want to succeed in the world of fine dining you actually have to put in an effort and serve good food. i’m not sure how you ever got on masterchef, you really need to smarten up. your staff where pretentious and clueless about what they were serving. your prices are ridiculously over priced and your wine menu was weak. i will never again eat at your restaurant and nor will i recommend it to anyone. i couldn’t even you a star rating as our experience was dreadful. extremely disappointing.

we absolutely loved nido. exquisite italian pasta. and the pasta was cooked perfectly! not soggy!

it’s a little pricey but worth every cent in our opinion.

the only thing i found strange, was the entree whipped ricotta with honey- it was absolutely delicious- but i found it very sweet for an entree. almost more suited for after the pasta!

cannot wait to return and try more dishes!

the service was also fantastic!

6/5!

its a shame i cant rate nido 1/2 a star as that’s what was deserving of our experience. meals were very disappointing and underwhelming. we went for the ‘feed me option’ and left feeling extremely ripped off. entrees were enjoyable (albiet a couple of us found the soldiers burnt), pasta was undercooked (and i dont mean al dente!), fish was bland- absolutely no flavour, and we coudnt get past one spoonful of the desert as it was awful. quality of dishes served were not to the standard expected at prices charged and quantity of servings was not on par with other fine dining restaurants. overpriced, overrated and will definitely not be returning.

nido was an absolute highlight of our adelaide stop! a beautiful cosy atmosphere, we were seated at the kitchen bar where we could observe the chefs creating their dishes and delivering their craft. laura & co. were extremely helpful with our menu choices. the pasta were absolutely stunning and the best i’ve had in australia. the cooking was hearty and authentic. the prices are low for the high quality product received and the customer service was top notch. a must do for anyone travelling through or living in adelaide.

we had high expectations from nido as it had been generating a lot of hype. while we were impressed by the food, a number of other aspects let the restaurant down.

we were seated along a bench at the front of the restaurant. the chairs were stools rather than seats. this meant three of our guests were on the footpath, which was problematic and distracting on a very windy night. this is despite specifically requesting “indoor seating” when booking. by virtue of sitting on stools on the footpath, there was also no where for the girls to put their handbags (other than the dirty ground), and subsequently had their bags on their laps for the entire night.

service was also very, very slow. we had an 8pm booking and arrived at 8pm sharp. by the time our drink orders had been taken and brought to the table, it was 8:40pm. completely unacceptable to wait 40 minutes for a drink.

throughout the night, it also came to light that the kitchen had run out of a number of items, including the raviolo and roast potatoes (which was one of three sides). drinks we ordered later in the night were then forgotten, and it was very difficult to get anyone’s attention to clarify where they were. we were then left with empty water glasses for the better part of 45 minutes while waiting for these missing beverages.

having said this, the food was great. the pastas were incredible, and the lamb shoulder was cooked perfectly. we won’t be back any time soon, but perhaps in a few months when the service issues have been ironed out we’ll give the restaurant a second chance.
