not all phở places are created equal, and new pho bo ga la is my favourite because of the efficient service and the fact the place is well-run and clean.

we eat at a lot of pho places on cold sunday afternoons. most are hit and miss, this place and it's sister restaurant next door are the best on somerset. we only get the #1 (beef rare), and i would consider ourselves pho experts on somerset living only 2 block away. keep up the good work.

what happen when you do a spontaneous one day trip to ottawa, the capitol of canada?  the drive from toronto is 5 hours, so when you arrive past noon, you realistically have a few hours to speed visit everything before your return trip back home.  as a given, you visit the touristy places, like everything around the parliament hill perimeter.  with a lack of plan and research, you also end up eating at the most random restaurant ever that is along the way back home.

went in for pad thai, ordered deep fried wontons as appetizers. they brought us the wrong ones (fine, it happens) but instead of trading it for what we want, they made a bigger deal than they should have asking us what exact number on the menu we ordered. the shrimp wontons were actually good, but that was the only positive thing about our experience.

when we received our pad thai, we asked for forks. my girlfriend was handed a dirty fork, caked with food and dry saliva. it was disgusting. we should have left right then and there but we were so hungry that we would've settled for mcdonalds at this point (probably should have) so we decided to stay after they gave us "clean" forks.

right away, the smell of the pad thai was off. it was coated in way too much oil and sauce, and smelled like ketchup. right after our first bite we cringed, and agreed that something was off. we tried one more bite, and again, it tasted weird. it was as if a 5 year old child made macaroni and cheese and put way too much ketchup in it. ketchup does not go.. in pad thai. we aren't usually picky and we really tried to eat it but it was disgusting and not worth the money.

i went to inform them that it tasted off and that i just want to pay for the appetizer and leave. instead of letting us do so, the server acted mad and said we just don't like pad thai, because he "just sold three of them and everyone loves our pad thai." except no one was eating what we had ordered... so the track record of lying about things (such as clean dishes) was consistent. he insisted that he can't do anything and has to bring it to the chef to see if something's wrong with it and that they can make a new one and went to the back before i could tell him no. he then returned and said everything was completely fine and we just don't like that type of food. i insisted again that i just want to pay and leave, and finally resentfully he let me.

it was the first time we had ever walked out on a restaurant, and i'm not excited to find out what kinds of diseases we may have caught off their cutlery. *pukes* don't go here unless you like your pad thai smothered in tomato soup.

s11 tum kha soup (shrimp only) it is the best tum kha soup i have had!. the medium is a big enough size. that spring rolls were good too, they bring them out fresh!

the bubble tea is average i would just go down the road to get some.

each time i have gone in there the service is not bad, they got young guys working there who were quick and efficient. we asked for extra lemons and he brought a bowl full.

love this place!! their pho is definitely the best in ottawa. food is always consistently prepared and flavourful. my favourite dish is the rice plate with beef and pork chop. portion size is also very generous. and the owners are so nice and friendly. highly recommend this place!

just some good pho. i went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. i had a small pho with rare beef. the pho was nice, but not overly generous in terms of the meat. i also felt that the serving may have been a bit smaller than some of the other places i have been. the sprouts and herbs were fresh, and wait staff very quick to seat us and take our orders. i did find the broth very tasty but also rather salty. i wonder if maybe i had a small reaction to something - my face was flushed after eating the pho for the rest of the night and i was extremely thirsty the next morning. if meeting there for the first time, you should be warned that there is a restaurant called pho bo ga directly across the street, so make sure you all know which one you're going to. i would go back if convenient, but wouldn't make a special trip.

bad experience. this has been me and my moms go-to pho place for years now. with ownership changes time-to-time it has kept up well but after today we will not be returning...

we don't expect much service from employees so this wasn't a new issue. first thing we noticed was the table condiments (i.e. siracha) was incredibly watered down as for the peanut sauce with the shrimp rice wraps.

being cheap in this sense never helps a business...just loses customers.

the broth in the noodle soup was salty as if it were loaded with msg, beef was overdone and old.

so disappointed! this used to be the best pho spot in ottawa. i do not recommend anymore.
