like it. this is the best gluten free bakery i have found. there are a few other good breads out there, but for variety (cupcakes, cookies, pizza, bread, etc.), this is the best i have found. love their pizza and their teff bread and yummy brownies.

i've tried quite a few gluten free bakeries in town since my partner is allergic to wheat. this place is the best. not only that it is a pleasant casual place to stop for a snack. the gf pizza looked great but i haven't tried it. get a loaf of gf bread to go. easy street parking.

was overwhelmed with all the options they had for gf! started with wine soaked plums in a flaky turnover crusty - heaven!. then had an everything gf bagel breakfast sandwich with greens, bacon, tomato, eggs. um yum! they have bagels, biscuits, muffins, cookies, cake, bread!, baguettes, quiche...just so much. we raided their 'day old' shelf for bread and bagels and grabbed a few goodies for the long drive back to california. i'm sure those will be awesome too.

very disappointed. i was visiting portland from canada, and knew i would be heading up to seattle on my return and wanted to pick up some gluten-free products to take with us for a special occasion for someone in seattle. they require 48 hrs notice to order something special. i called this bakery more than 48 hours in advance, and the initially answered, but then put me on hold for +10 minutes and never came back. i called back after about 15 minutes and left a message because no one answered. no one called me back. we then decided to actually physically go to the bakery and were told that they could do a special order, but required 48 hrs notice. when we explained that we had tried to give them 48 hrs notice and had left a message but no one got back to us, the chap who helped us was very apologetic but they said there was nothing they could do to help us. they only had one baker on and he was backed up. the woman who was working with the nice chap was less than helpful or apologetic (expect she was the one that took the initial call and never came back). what was also so frustrating was that they had all the ingredients to make what we wanted - but they couldn't find the ten minutes to put it together for us. overall, not impressed. don't count on them to be communicative or go out of their way. would like to reiterate that the chap that dealt with us in the store was very nice and apologetic - not his fault - and he did his best, but overall, was very disappointed.

new cascadia traditional bakery is on the other side of hawthorne bridge from downtown portland, and they have a sit-in bakery with many options. pizza crusts, many different types of bread, pastries, and treats to satisfy. my son loved his chocolate cupcake, and i enjoyed the lemon galette and cinnamon bun.

cupcakes. picked up four gluten free cupcakes for my husband's birthday. wow, couldn't believe how expensive! i have paid the same price for a whole cake that serves more people at a top of the line bakery. the real shocker...they were horrible!! even my kids 10/12 wouldn't eat them! they even disliked the frosting. they said it was gross!

disappointing. i had heard good things about this bakery and had wanted to order a gluten free cake for a surprise party for my wife. it was a disappointing experience. i first went to their website to look at what they had to offer. the website did not have a menu so i called and asked if they could email me one. the person i talked to said that they didn't do that and that there was a menu on the website. i went back to the website but still couldn't find one. they were closed by this point so i had to wait until the next day to call back. i called and the person i spoke to said that the could email me a menu. she emailed me the menu at 10:17am and when i called back and noon to place the order, she said that they had stopped all orders for the day i needed the cake. i asked her if she could accommodate one more cake and she indicated that her employees wouldn't be able to go home if they had one more order for a special birthday. this is so unfortunate to not accommodate a potential customer and it's rather shocking considering it's portland.

awesome food.... everything that i have tasted at this place is wonderful. pizza, cupcakes, cookies, sandwiches, bread... i wish that there were one on the west side of town too. the other gluten free bakery that i know of doesn't hold a candle to this place. the only downside is that sometimes some of the staff seems pretty unfriendly.

beyond rice flour. of course a sugary gf cupcake is appreciated when you live in a cit y crawling with enticing pastries that can't eat.... but what i love about this place is hearty whole-grain artisan bread. new cascadia's teff sourdough is by far the best gluten-free bread i've ever tasted.on saturday, they bake a version with walnuts that is divine. and i feel good when i eat it because it is actually good for you! teff, the grain ethiiopian injira is made from, is packed with protein and minerals. after finding this place, i bought a 10 pound bag of teff flour and started experimenting, but honestly, they do it better. the owners have been extremely kind to me and i find the staff to be friendly and fun. as a gf girl, i am grateful to have this bakery in my community.

great food, great atmosphere!. i confess i'm having a hard time understanding the negative reviews for this bakery. in my experience, almost everyone here is friendly. the baristas take extra special care to make my coffee perfect, and because i'm a regular the owner usually has a few words for me, too. (i might describe her as "shy" but "sour" is way off!) the food is delicious, especially the pizza and sweet goodies. true, the size system for bread loaves does seem a little weird, but i doubt it's designed to cheat anyone!

i was so happy when nct set up their own bakery space with a coffee shop, since what i'd been missing most in my gf lifestyle was the whole coffee house, get-your-coffee-and-pastry-here culture. i've seen people come in from out of town and go into ecstasies over all the options. it's more than a bakery, it's a haven for lost souls!

very good choice for those on a gf diet. anyone who is a foodie and gets diagnosed with celiac is familiar with the depression involved with being denied delicious foods and being told to replace them with the cardboardy sand that passes for most gf food. cascadia traditional is the best gluten free baked goods i've had so far. it's not the same as wheat baked goods - that's just not possible. but the baguette has a lovely texture, the cupcakes are sweet and lovely, and the pizza crust was cracker thin and delicious. the only down side is the price point - but truthfully, it's on par with most gf products i've seen.

it just doesn't get any better. i've tried so much from new cascadia - the french bread, the rolls, the pretzels, pizza shells, muffins, cupcakes, and the little fruit tarts. and did i mention they were all gluten free?! and tasty, flaky, yummy, just like i vaguely remember the "real" stuff was like.
