we found navi after reading a news article and cannot stop telling people about navi.

what first drew us in was the very well priced degustation menu and what a night.
highlights of the meal included the appetiser snacks at the start, the possum and also the duck.
the presentation, flavour and quality of the dishes were on par with some of the city’s best degustations.

the beverage pairing was amazing value at $80 per person, with great quality beverages.

the only feedback we had was with regards to the beverage pairing, that a drink should be included for the dessert course.
we found the beverage match finished at the cheese course, and as there was still one dessert course to go (aside from the petit fours), we would happily pay an extra $10-20 for the beverage pairing to include the extra beverage.

it wasn’t the end of the world, we ordered additional drinks from the menu, however would have been nice to have a beverage picked out to match the dessert to complete the experience.

this was only a very small detail and the amazing food & drink, customer service and attention to detail made this an incredible experience.

we can’t wait to go back and highly recommend a visit!

navi. a degustation celebration. highly recommend. each mouthful was flavorsome and delightful.
the black garlic salmon roe macaroon was so good i wanted to take a dozen home to share, but no take away options.
then tiny smoked eel, native thyme between 2 super thin apple slices was a subtle and supurb flavor and texture experience.
the white asparagus with lions mane, nasturtiums with tiny tea cured egg yolk when enjoyed in small morsels gave you a full taste and flavor sensation both subtle and full bodied and totally enhanced by the egg yolk.
the murray cod on muscles, green strawberries and olive oil was totally delicious and light and moist.
the bellarine lamb on chargrilled lettuce, saltbush and anchovies was just another highlight in an excellent meal. it was the best lamb dish i have experienced. perfectly cooked, totally moist and every mouthful better than the last.
cherries and flowers with sorbet to cleans the pallet. small but very satisfying.
buckwheat koji loquat and anzac caramel was a smear with an ice cream texture. not too much in flavor and a delightful finishing dish ! and there were petit fours - chocolate with miso caramel and a wonderful mandarin pate fruits like a miniature turkish delight which i totally forgot to photograph but it did look as good as it tasted.
this was just the saturday afternoon graze. navi does an extended lunch menu and further extended dinner menu. they also have paired alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
i was fortunate to sit at the bar and watch it all being put together. the chefs were wonderful and fully enjoyed every morsel of the food and atmosphere.

we dined at navi last weekend. julien cooks food that is beautiful, delicious and interesting. his flavours and flavour combinations are impressive. the matched wines were great as was the service. very impressive all round

if i had to summarise my experience at navi in 1 word? it would be ‘yummy’. as simple as that. sitting in front of the chefs table you get to watch as chef julian and team work their magic and make you feel involved in the process.

i had the 8 course meal along with the wine pairing (although i could not keep up with all the wines!!) and each dish that came out was without fault.

chef julian explained the foods and origins, and the sommelier professionally assisted us with the wines.

all in all, i cannot wait to be back!!

mind-blowing experience. truly surpassed expectation. you won't find a better value fine dining degustation. the 8 course menu is in fact 14 plates - make sure you arrive with an empty stomach because it's a 3 hour plus journey that you will never forget. julian goes out of his way to involve diners in the process - do try get a spot at chef's bar to see the master in motion! - and the service is second to none. it rivals the likes of brae and attica. navi should be top of your hit list. especially if you appreciate seafood!

restaurant navi has been on my to-eat list for quite some time now… for most of last year to be exact. i’m actually surprised i hadn’t gotten around to it sooner given the restaurant’s close proximity to home (only one suburb over) but that’s probably also the reason why i was in no rush. silly me.

by far the best dining experience of our lifetime. do yourself a favour and book a table as soon as you can

i liked navi but it didn't really wow me. we had the 8 courses and my husband wanted to get pizza afterwards, even after 2 servings of bread. i think the price is fair but the portions could be a little bigger. i really appreciated the quality of the ingredients and the local produce. the kangaroo tail, fish & cherry sorbet were standouts. the desserts were done well.

after waiting 2 months for navi, the place certainly did not disappoint. we had great seats right in front of the kitchen and saw them plate up every one of our dishes which was great to see. we preordered the 8 course and it certainly did not disappoint. it was certainly one of the best value 8 courses around.
my favourite dishes has to go to the 10 year old wagyu (starter), mains - corn fed duck and cuttlefish and dessert - white chocolate, apple, verjus.
amazing service and great execution on both the flavours and balance of combinations. what really impressed me was the utilising of a lot of australian native ingredients and flavours.
i can't wait until these guys get a hat as they certainly deserve it.

one of the best restaurants i’ve been to! the service was attentive and the ambiance was very pleasant. was a great choice to sit at the chefs bar as you can watch the food come together. the food was perfect. flavours were balanced and i never found myself saying it was too salty or bland. definitely worth the price. i booked for a another time right after i left the restaurant.

more than a 4.5 at least.

the food and service was absolutely outstanding. we loved the intimate setting and the fact that the chef/owner himself took the time to explain each dish to us as they came out.

every dish was amazing, the proteins were all well cooked and he made such good use of native australian ingredients. there were even a few ingredients that i have never seen anywhere else before, which was exciting to say the least.

if you have a special occasion coming up do not hesitate to come here. it might not be well known now, but i imagine navi will soon be a prominent player in melbourne's dining scene.

my husband and i dined with our friends at navi for the first time last night. the food was exceptional, even sublime and we had an amazing foodie experience. the service and hospitality was top class as well. we loved it and have told all our friends how amazing this dining extravaganza was. the food was so carefully matched and complimented so the flavours sung to you with each bite, each piece being it's own quartet within the whole symphony orchestra of a dining experience! thank you navi and julian, we will definitely be back!

consistantly fabulous! like a wonderful new chocolate box of wonderful new flavours to surprise and tantalize the senses. lovely environment and great personalised service.

enjoyed the matinee lunch here today. what can i say.... everything tasted amazing...well done navi. service was super professional and the ambience was moody, yet classy. well worth booking in.
