love this place!. dining options in waldorf are limited, at best. so when i had several recommendations for napoli, i decided to give it a try. totally worth it!
do not let appearances deceive you. the restaurant is a bit run-down, and you order at the front from a dated menu board, but these just add to napoli's unique charm. the service is not fantastic (it can be a little spotty), but it is friendly and they are the staff all seem willing to go the extra mile for their customers.
on our first visit, it was just 3 of us. we wanted to try everything on the large menu, but of course, that was unrealistic :) we settled on a pepperoni pizza, agyroplatter, an arancini, some bread, 2 soda's and 2 beers.
i'll start with the arancini, since that was the only disappointment. when i lived in sicily, arancini was a ball of risotto with a little mozzarella and beef/peas inside, breaded and deep fried. the one i got from napoli was more like a meatball with some rice, breaded and deep fried. the fry-job was rather unsuccessful and the whole thing was greasy and cold. the tomato sauce they served with it was simply amazing, though.
thegyroplatter was enormous and amazing. thegyromeat was wonderfully seasoned and just melted in the mouth it was so tender. it was served with pita points, a small greek salad, fries and that delicious sauce known as tzatziki!
the pizza was also a big it. good toppings, nice sauce and a great crust! by and far on the the best pies around! and all in all, our bill for 3 was $41 and we took food home.
our second visit was similar, except no arancini and we got the mozzarella stick appetizer. they were very typical mozz sticks, and while good, what really makes them stand out is the marinara sauce they are served with...it seems to be the same that was served with the arancini and is fresh tasting and well made.
overall, napoli will definitely be in the rotation of restaurants we visit! great food, friendly staff and low prices :)
