napolese review. not impressed, but not dissapointing- little over-priced..service was excellent except for the male mgr on duty this past saturday (05-08-10)- arrived with a party of 9 and was told rather rudely that they normally don't seat that large of a party, so we were lucky we arrived at opening- should have just left and walked half a block up to noble romans and had as good a pizza and great breadsticks/cheese!

my boyfriends and i have consistently gone to napolese every week since our first visit. they use super fresh local and organic ingredients and you can tell. staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. yes it does get a little noisy when it's busy but it works for the place and definitely hasn't stopped us!

amazing!. i am so excited this place is finally open!

my boyfriend and i went on a weekday evening and of course it was crowded. we opted to sit at the counter - which i am so glad we did! we were able to see literally everything being made.

we ordered a caprese salad first. we literally watched the cook take a fresh tomato from the bowl and a mozarella ball from the fridge and prepare the salad right before our eyes. talk about fresh! the salad was simple yet fulfilling.

next we opted to split a pizza since we already had a salad. the pizzas are larger than individual size - so unless you are wanting to taste different varieties/have left overs/or eat just pizza, there is really no reason to order more than one. we had the meridian kessler (sausage, mushrooms, and aged provolone). it was awesome. the crust was thin in the middle and nice and fluffy on the outside. the toppings were absolutely delicious - so flavorful.

my sweet tooth was craving dessert - i had the raspberry sorbet. very good.

all in all our bill was $26. and we were definitely satisfied. the reviewer below who says he spent $82 on 3 beers, an appetizer, a salad, and 2 pizzas - well it's a lot of food. i mean i would have loved to have leftovers, but the salads are meant to be split. and after splitting a salad i didn't really want to eat my own pizza.

napolese will definitely be a staple of ours!

not bad. i went with 3 other people and was told the wait was 45 minutes but we were seated in 20. ordered the brushcetta and the ricotta, pancetta, sea salt, and cracked pepper spread for starters. both were very good and there was plenty to share, but there wasn't enough bread at first. ordered the hamaker, a smoked salmon, and a free style goat cheese/ caramelized leeks/ and mushrooms. the hamaker has really thick slices of pepperoni so it's hard to bite into but that was the only "negative" of the pizza. the nutella pizza was amazing but a lot bigger than we thought it would be (as big as a regular pizza). $20 a person wasn't a bad price.

good but overpriced. had the goat cheese and tomato sauce with panini appetizer - this was a 10. amazing tomato sauce and panini bread!

the arugula salad was also fabulous - great light oil based dressing with a fresh lemon wedge on the peppery arugula.

i made my own pizza using leeks, wild mushrooms, and taleggio. you could get the blt - bacon, leeks and taleggio, so mine was the same pizza but subbing wild mushrooms for the bacon - for $13. but since i'm vegetarian i didn't want the bacon. however, no substitutions are allowed on the combo pizzas. so, i had to "freestyle" it and paid (literally) $20 for it ($9+$5+$4+$2).

that makes no sense...especially considering of the 11 combos 4 are vegetarian and all 4 of those four are margheritas! (1 reg, 1 w/buffalo mozzerella, 1 with egg, 1 with quail egg) yes, no 'veggie' pizzas (as in pizzas with several vegetables), and no classic cheese pizza. and as we've seen above if you have to do the "freestyle" option you're going to get screwed.

another gripe - they cut the rind off the taleggio. if i'm paying $5 for taleggio, i want it served correctly/authentically/non-sacreligiously and that means with the rind. especially when melted on a pizza with other cheeses.

the service was outstanding. couldn't asked for better. i spoke with them about the rind and they were super cool and understanding and friendly (but probably aren't changing the policy). they even offered that i could call and speak to a certain person ahead of time the next time and they would try to set aside some taleggio with the rind on it. okay, in reality i'm not going to do that, but it was nice of them to do whatever they could to accommodate my concern and i appreciate it.

sun king cans - $6, not too bad but imo a little high.

2 people, 1 app, 1 salad, 2 pizzas, 3 beers = $82 before gratuity. the pizza was very good. but i know a recently opened place with similarly-styled pizzas whose i find a touch better, and my bill has always been at least $20 cheaper there (for two, ordering similarly).

normally, reviewing a restaurant in the first few weeks is a bad idea. they're still working out the kinks, getting their timing down, getting truly at home with the menu. but when the person in charge has been slinging omelets and croques monsieur for ye

meh. i really wanted to like this place. my girlfriend and i got an appetizer of baked goat cheese and tomato sauce that came with bread. though the cheese and sauce were great, the bread was soggy with oil to the point that it couldn't stand up to dipping. my prosciutto and taleggio was incredibly salty. when i mentioned it to our server, she brushed it off as "authentic" prosciutto. while i usually enjoy salted meats and value authentic ingredients, this was unenjoyable. my girlfriend's pizza was underdone, and fell apart while she was trying to eat it. all in all, a weak showing from a promising candidate.

pizza is not meant to have a wet spot in the middle. that's a thing reserved for unmarried couples.room needs some soft surfaces to dampen the shrill sounds. pretentious staff.

hands down my favorite pizza in the city! i am a sucker for quality (and a coal oven pizza) and boy does this place deliver it! so unique, so delicious! we brought our cultured and well traveled family from out of town here and they were so happy and surprised with the classy experience that is naoplese.
if you go though, you will see the word 'goose'...or smoked goose...something like that... when they describe the meat items. just know that it's a product brand, not that you are eating goose!

every time i have visited for pizza i've had a great experience. service was lovely. i love the thinner crust of their pizzas. good wine selection. my boyfriend and i always get an app (or salad) and pizza to share. and we have never been disappointed. it's busy on the weekends because it's a great place with fantastic food.

napolese is no exception, and i keep going despite the long waits, loud dining room, and tepid service because it is the only place in indianapolis where i know i can get that thin, yeasty, blistery pizza crust.

anonymous. you can do better. overall this place serves a decent pizza. however the service is terrible. i have been a couple of times and was treated with rude and impatient servers each time. it took forever to get our food the first time. when we mentioned the delay to our server she just walked away. the same thing essentially happened the second time as well. we mentioned the prior incident to a guy at the next table. he said, "all of martha's places are like that.......just deal with it". i have to assume that martha is the owner. ironically, i found a similar, but much better place in carmel called crust. afterwards i found out that "martha" is suing this place for "copying" her. talk about arrogance! apparently they didn't do too good of a job copying her..........the service was fantastic!

a big disappointment. the pizza was ok, but nothing truly magical. the dining experience was terrible. the highlight of the evening was listening to this nasty little woman scold a young hostess until she broke down in tears. the guy at the next table informed us that it was the owner and that this "happens all the time". i don't care how good the pizza is, i will not support a place that treats it's employees with so little respect.
