nice place. walkable distance from hotel lemon tree where i was staying.

this is an unlimited thaaliplacewith two premium sweets, one dahi chaat, two farsaans, four veggies, chhaas, and chapattis, pooris, rice, khichdi etc

the sweets today we're mohanthaal and thick fruit salad. then there was dahi papdi chaat. white dhoklas and onion pakoras. veggies were bhindi, aloo tamatar, masoor usal, paneer masala. there was tikhi dal, yellow kadhi and gujarati kadhi.

the preparation is good and hopefully hygienic too. at rs 300, it is a steal.

go for it.

i was in aurangabad last weekend for a short trip, was staying at my friend'splacein cidco colony. on the last day of our trip, we decided to step out for dinner.

my friend's parents recommended this place. we managed to get a table and decided to go ahead with the thali option.

highlights-

staff - 5/5 supportive, prompt & well mannered

ambience - 4/5 pretty decent, good lighting & comfy sofas

food - 5/5 usually when you order thali, you end up eating only 3-4 items as not everything in the platter is upto the mark however i was amussed with the fact that almost everything in my platter was bang on in taste.

shows topper dishes - dal khichdi, malpua, dal and paratha ☺️

value for money - 5/5 , food is unlimited and one thali costs inr 250

also, cherry on the cake is their mitha pan which they serve after the meal..

for all thali lover, thisplaceis highly recommended.

love eat pray
xoxo

update (date 10 march 2018 :

ordered an exec thali online via swiggy.

the lunch box came in time.

price was rs 200 incl delivery charges.

have attached pics of the lunch box.

food was warm and fresh.

it included salad, pulao, 5 phulkas, 1 puranpoli, 2 gulab jamuns, one paneer subzi, one pungent potato subzi, dal, papad, chinese prep veg balls.

everything was neatly packed in separate containers and quantity for one person was more than sufficient and quite filling.

would definitely recommend thisplacefor a veg thali lunch to a tourist.

initial review ( 10 feb 2017) :

went here for lunch, they have a veg thali concept...costs rs 250....a thali has innumerable items. i will list my favourites ..... amazingly soft and tasty puranpoli, plain rice and dal , koshimbir , paneer kadhai, custard and the buttermilk. they have 4 varieties of veggies , dals n kadhi , puris, bhakri, chapati, khichdi and pulao , gulab jamun and dahi wada, sandwich dhokla, small samosa, papad in addition to the items i have mentioned as my favorites.
theplaceis pretty crowded, but the service is excellent, rice and dal n puranpoli are served with ghee, just like one would eat at home. the servers as well other staff are pretty attentive, quick to fill up the empty watis/ containers of items eaten.
i liked the experience of eating food quite similar to home food when traveling.
a thali concept is really difficult to achieve in all aspects, i think the quality of food overall and the service for the price is not only value for money but a great deal.

the thing about the great indian (unlimited) thali is, you either eat to your heart's content and have the most satisfying wholesome meal or it can become the most gluttonous meal :d

this was aplacehighly recommended for vegetarian food – and it does live up to the rating. we reached here for early dinner and it was already buzzing with people. luckily, we got a table.

there was gajar ka halwa, dhokla, puran poli, paneer subzi, gujju kadhi and much much more… my favorite from the whole thali was a unique mix vegetable and fruit custard. must have taken three helpings of each. also, kept on the table was this amazing peanut and chana chutney (finished it greedily, missed taking a picture) it was yum. do try the chutney.

the service was very good and quick.

on a sunday afternoon we were trying to find a decent restaurant on our way to the aurangabad airport and we came across a board that read "naivedya ... the joy of thali". and we decided to have our lunch there .
to my surprise the restaurant was packed with just one vacant table that we occupied, and as soon as we sat the manager asked us how many people we were and asked the waiters to start serving and within minuets the thali in front of me was filled with variety of veggies in small bowls and it had every thing starting from a papdi chat and a glass of butter milk to rajma(kidney beans), dal(pulses), a cottage cheese dish, baingan ki sabzi(aubergine), kadi- 2 variety the rajasthani(mildly spiced) as well as a sweet- gujrati types and all this was served along with variety of chapati and bajre ka rotla and small puri's and you could also take rice if you wanted and for starters they served us a alu ki tikki and a piece khandvi. all the veggies and roti and starters had unlimited servings , for sweet dish they had aam ras - mango nectar and all this was just for rupees 250 plus taxes

awesome food at a very reasonable price to top it all mini paan were served along with the bill

i loved the concept and the food was excellent simply loved it

if in aurangabad thisplaceis a must visit - you are gonna love it too.

when it come to thalis, naivedya is by far the best option in aurangabad in terms of their taste and service. and when i say that, i am referring to their new outlet in vedant nagar (near vits hotel). they are not over-the-top pretentious with synthetic tasting desserts or with a pseudo-cultural facade like their older competitors (one of which i have reviewed). but what they offer is a 'ghar ka khana' feel that leaves you full but not bloated in the slightest way. unfortunately, that branch of this restaurant is not listed on zomato yet. but it is worth mentioning it in this review because the yardstick i'm using to measure the cidco outlet is their newer branch that i just mentioned. (an exclusive review for the new branch will be posted when i see them listed on zomato. and yes, they will have a better rating!)

so how does the cidco outlet compare to its younger sibling?

in terms of service, they are quite good. maybe even marginally better considering they are more experienced than their counterparts. but the way they 'hover' around you is a bit disconcerting. i don't necessarily mind it because they do that to provide a better service. don't expect to have a private conversation with your family though!

no sooner you enter, you will be directed to a table. avoid the sofas, as they are a bit too low as compared to the table. as soon as you sit, you are bombarded with an assortment of vegetables, daal, kadhi, custard and chaat (yes, chaat!) . the vegetables are tasty, not too oily and with their own distinct flavour profile. the daal is tasty, the custard does not taste synthetic at all and the chaat does not seem out ofplaceat all but leaves you wanting more of it. fluffy small chapatis, puris and a special roti/paratha are a perfect accompaniment. a glass of 'chaas' (spiced buttermilk) rounds it off. the constant service slows down once you're served rice, of which there are usually 2-3 varieties to choose from.
they also serve bottled water by default, which is a good thing!

here's what i didn't like, and mind you, i'm comparing them to their own new outlet as well
- you have to pay the bill at the counter. its time restauranteurs understood that a thaali is an indian version of fine dining and there is a certain elegance (for lack of a better word) in bringing the bill at the table as compared to paying at the counter like you would do at a roadside eatery.
- there are no finger bowls. i don't mind using a wash basin but their wash basin is outside the restaurant area in aplacenear the kitchen/store-room which is not very well maintained and looks unhygenic.
-the price is marginally higher than their new outlet.

notwithstanding, the whole experience is topped off with a complimentary 'magai'/ sweet paan which is a perfect mouth freshner and an excellent way to leave a restaurant!

i really wish that the cidco branch ups the ante a bit because they do have the secret to a winning combination as evident from their new outlet!
