saturday night and our group of five walk into a bustling my thai at 6.30pm. the elegant traditional thai decor is mesmerising as i take in this beautiful suburban restaurant. wait staff looking impeccable in thai traditional dress seat us quickly and cold water/menus are provided. after placing our dinner order, drinks from the bar are served.
*our entrees arrive within 20 minutes. the thai fish cakes are good and the tempura calamari rings though tender are quite tasteless.
*tom yum goong comes in an attractive hot pot and the soup is tasty with a touch of coconut cream but is very salty. the ten large king prawns look impressive and are quite fresh.
*mussaman beef curry is flavoursome and the beef is tender but the serving size is quite small.
*laab gai (thai spicy chicken salad) is chicken mince tossed with chilli flakes and fresh herbs with a squeeze of lemon juice. this dish is tasty and refreshing but is very salty.
*pad ped talay (combination seafood) has scallops, prawns and calamari tossed with red curry paste, bamboo shoots, capsicum, green beans, thai basil and kaffir lime leaves. this dish is nicely presented with a generous serve of seafood and vegetables.
*mix desserts are a combination of black glutinous rice & coconut cream, coconut ice cream and tapioca pudding with a lychee. these desserts are a group favourite.
*our kiwi land and red rose mocktails look outstanding, are refreshing and delicious!
our group enjoy our dinner here. the food is good, not outstanding but the attentive helpful wait staff and beautiful decor of this restaurant helps improve the overall rating to 4.0/5.0!
