best muffins!. absolutely love this place! the ginger pear muffins melt in your mouth and are the perfect way to start the day! also, i love how the lattes are made with soy! i'll be returning often to try the "made in house" pastries and cookies!

had a very hipster atmosphere, which almost makes one feel out of place. had a very neat and niche appeal that was reflected in the menu and decor. limited parking options and at times limited seating. the food is good and so is the coffee, but nothing that exactly matches the price. the building itself seems claustrophobic and people are often working making it rather quiet; which can be a bonus. overall not a bad product, however the price and accommodations and parking make it tough to want to come back very soon.

vegan done right!. the hallmark of excellent vegan food is not even knowing it's vegan. mud pie thoroughly succeeds in this regard! the cinnamon coffee cake and the magic bar i had were totally epic, vegan or not. while mud pie's food is superb, the environment/service need a little work. parking (for you and your car) is scarce and the service is definitely (and unsurprisingly) "hipster."
bottom line: some of the best vegan treats you'll ever have, but don't expect similarly a excellent environment or service.

amazing vegan desserts!! i rarely enjoy desserts being vegan, but this place knows how to bake! i tried 4 different things and they were all wonderful!! coffee was fantastic too! highly recommend for anyone!

even better than non-vegan!. i had mexican hot chocolate. it was some of the best hot chocolate i've ever had anywhere.

best vegan chill spot in kc. get the americano and lemon blueberry muffin. and the chocolate cupcake. i'd skip the cookie, it is a little funky tasting but decent microwaved. but the americano and muffin are heaven. and don't even get me started in the coconut milk hot cocoa. best thing ever. ever.

try: if you find them, their totally portable, pop tarty pie pockets and enjoy a grown-up version of a childhood favorite.

the café au lait had the perfect soymilk to coffee ratio. the scones were flaky and flavorful, the way that scones are supposed to be.

out of towner, but always make a detour for this amazing vegan bakery!

vegan goodness. an all-vegan bakery in the mid-west? yes, please!

mud pie vegan bakery. i went to mud pie for for two reasons: i love bakeries and i had to try an all vegan spot. the atmosphere was charming, and the coffee smelled wonderful. i found their selection to be rather slim, which was disappointing, but the offerings varied enough to be interesting. though tempted to try either their fruit and seed bar, which sounded wonderful, or the cinnamon topped coffee cake, i opted for the classic chocolate chip cookie. my mom grabbed a coffee chocolate chip muffin. as we walked out the door, we instantly opened our goodie bags to sample. the texture of the chocolate chip was pleasantly surprising considering it was gluten free and vegan, not to mention it was monster-sized, so i felt very pleased with my selection though i have certainly had a better chocolate chip cookie. the muffin, however, had a funky taste and i did not care for it at all. i would return to mud pie to sample other offerings if i was in the area, but overall, the baked goodies were only so-so. i wouldn't make a special trip.

seriously can't get better than this place. by far my favorite place for coffee in the mornings before work or weekend coffee and patio time. always greeted with a smile and i just love that local charm.
