mixed experience - more disappointing than good. friday evening, august 2, 2013
upon arrival, my boyfriend and i were greeted by a smiling hostess. i was impressed with the look of the restaurant, as the design is modern, hip and eye-catching. i felt as if i was entering a chic restaurant in nyc. having said all that, our experience unfortunately took a progressive decline. we were seated at a booth in the bar area. our waiter, dixon, greeted us in a reasonable amount of time, and got our first round of drinks, again, in a reasonable amount of time. however, for additional drinks, it required a lot of effort and patience. our waiter was not "on top of it" when it came to refilling tea, offering another cocktail, and even getting the drink order correct. he seemed to be distracted, not attentive and was more interested in flirting with other servers.
in regard to the food. the salmon was ok, but the warm pretzels were terrible. they were dry and tasted somewhat freezer burnt. i have had better pretzels at the movie theater. it took a long time for our entres to come out. the fried chicken was dry and not very flavorful. the meatloaf, however, was pretty good, and the brussel sprouts were very tasty and well-prepared.
our waiter basically disappeared after we received our entrees. it was apparent we were finished eating, and another waiter and bartender were more attentive to our needs in regard to drinks, as well as needing to go boxes for the remaining edible food.
we waited way too long to receive our check. the waiter who first was friendly, became less than friendly and almost irritated with us.
overall, the experience was extremely disappointing. the prices were way too high for sub-par service and mediocre food. unfortunately, atmosphere is not going to be enough for us to return.
we will not be dining again at ms. roses. we may go to sit at the bar and listen to music. the bartender(s) seemed friendly, adept and cognizant of their job roles. our waiter certainly did not.
