a mixed review in oxnard, california. we signed in at this small diner but there was no wait. first i noticed on the condiment shelf the bowl of non-dairy creamer...mrs. olson i don't believe that should be served at a "coffee hut". next i looked at the wall of memorabilia commentating 9-11...how very depressing to think about terrorism when we want to be happily enjoyinglunchon our vacation. the coffee hut is located near a military base and celebrates our fine men and women in uniform...memorabilia abounds. we placed our order. i had clam chowder and half a tuna sandwich on toasted sourdough. the chowder had an unusual seasoning, lots of clams, some potato and chunks of carrot. the tuna in my sandwich was abundant, but barely moistened with mayo, then some almost ripe sliced tomato and iceberg lettuce. mrs. olson the tuna needs a little something to bring out the flavor...i used salt and pepper provided for the seasoning. some onion, dill weed, celery or celery seed and a bit of lemon juice would have helped lots. the bowl of chili was made for those who desire no spice but there were bottles of hot sauce to help it along. the turkey sandwich was nothing special. on the way out we saw the specials of the day board...our waitress didn't mention them. if i were to go back i would do more reading of reviews because our meals weren't very good.
