i wanted to love this place. three of us went for dinner and were sat at a tiny table feeling like we were in the way of traffic. we asked to have one of the several open round tables and were told no and moved to a booth which was fine. our server was fine. but we found a cockroach in our food. the owner came over and told us she didn't have roaches and took no ownership of the problem. no one was eating anymore at that point obviously. after telling her we did not want dessert (her remedy to the problem) we were given dessert anyway. after sitting for a while someone finally came to clear the table. we went to pay and she only wanted to take care of part of our tab even though after finding a cockroach in the food none of us ate our dinner. i explained that i did not think it was right and she got really angry with me and told us to go. i was trying to leave a tip and she kept telling us to leave. i asked if she was kicking us out and she said "no, just go your server doesn't need your money." she was extremely rude and angry and unprofessional. i understand things happen. i've never had a roach in my food but was willing to just leave and let it go. however, she made what was already a bad situation much worse. i would never support this business again.

moni's has a wide range of italian dishes that can't be beat. anything you pick off the menu will be good so don't worry. (my personal favorite is veal picata)  the wait staff will be glad to help you pick something off the menu if you need help. by the way, their pizza is superb. don't forget to byob.

a popular neighborhood gathering spot. moni himself may greet you at the door or schmooze at your table. his wife keeps everything flowing and manages the cash register. expect big crowds on the weekends with regulars like singing clubs or upscale friendly bikers in black t-shirts. kid friendly but not many kids and a lot of gray hair. servers are friendly and efficient, giving folks time to socialize before ordering. even with big groups they seem unflappable and accurate. you'll need to bring your own wine but they'll provide wine glasses and even lots of ice for those who prefer to drink their red wine like iced tea. there is a big choice on the menu. a dozen or so each of chicken and veal dishes as well as the usual pastas and pizzas. but everything is bland and needs salt. by far the best are the fresh-out-of-the-oven yeast rolls. huge with crispy tops. big texas-size servings. you shouldn't go away hungry. you should definitely go with friends.

love our wine wednesdays at moni's. great family owned restaurant. friendly, exceptionally great service and delicious food. we have tried everything from specials to pasta stables and the pizza -- all excellent. love being able to bring our own wine. we try to go every week, always a fun time.

this review is about the pizza only. you can quit reading if you want to know about the other items.

i've always lived by the philosophy that there really is no truly bad pizza. it's pretty basic and would be difficult to screw up to the extent one would call it bad. i stand beside that theory although moni's chose to test it tonight.

the large pepperoni pie was greasy - and that even though it only had ~15 pepperonis on it. the crust was therefore very soggy. we got it fresh from the oven but the cheese had already congealed and strung up into a gloppy mess i didn't really recognize.

there's no bad pizza. even hot-n-ready for five bucks or the 3.99 buffet will do in a pinch. those places could teach this place a few lessons.

bottom line - and it pains me to say this about a family-owned indie place - but i won't be back. at least not for pizza. not on a dare.

found my italian heaven. i actually went there for some other business other than eating. mama, as everyone calls her sat me down to wait on papa. the greatest folks you will ever meet! they insisted i ate something and i finally gave in and had the lasagna and omg! fantastic! i took a pizza home for my family and they went crazy for it. we are going to have dinner there tomorrow. we can't wait.

a perfect dining experience. my adult nieces and nephews hosted a surprise 75th birthday dinner/celebration for their father at moni's, a family owned italian restaurant. about 50 guests were seated in the party room. our excellent server, tony, made us all feel welcome.the food was delicious, the service was flawless and cordial.
i am from out of state and my only disappointment was that i can't dine regularly at moni's!

nice neighborhood restaurant that has been here for ages: good safe american italian fare from very friendly albanian owners who make you feel at home.

started with the mussels marinara: amazing all around.

shrimp fradiavola was pretty decent, the veal parm was perfect.

staff are very attentive: in fact whenever our waiter vanished occasionally the other waiters jumped in without bring asked to serve us. wow!

byob!

rather disappointed in the cost of food. my family ate here on saturday morning. the value if the food is not nearly what they think it is. i will not go here again.

i ate at this gem a couple of weeks ago. on a sunday it was packed full of people just getting out of church probably lured by the smell of fresh garlic. when we walked in, it felt like you were waling into some ones home for sunday dinner. with many items to chose from i finally decided on the seafood fettuccine full of crab, shrimp and scallops and i mean a lot of it. you also get to decide what kind of sauce you want on the dish. i chose the pink sauce which had a nice peppery kick to it that complemented the sweetness of the seafood. and the garlic bread was even more ridiculous because they were huge and basted with garlicky goodness. needless to say, i really want to go back and try another dish or even one of their pizzas. ya'll let me know how it is and what you ordered :))
