modesto restaurant

best service. one of the best spots around for quality service is modesto. well, i should say one of the best "servers" around works at modesto. it is rare to find a server who doesn't overwhelm the dining experience with constant interruption, but exhibits strong knowledge of what themenuoffers. the last few times i dined there, i requested stephen butler's section, as he knows details about food and wine pairings and other specifics regarding how food is prepared and where it's grown. more restaurants should train their servers to use the informative, friendly approach (and back off the pushy - get you in and out the door kind of service we sometimes experience with restaurants in asheville).

modesto was fantastico. after a friend told us this is her favorite italian restaurant in all of asheville we found ourselves parked right outside it on some downtown errands so we decided to try it for lunch. we know that we like others of hectors restaurants but hadn't yet been here. i've been to italy twice with a third trip coming up and my husband once with me. our lunch experience was incredibly delicious. the restaurant is lovely and we would have like to sit outside but the only tables available were in the sun so we sat inside by the window. we ordered the baby artichokes in orange basil sauce, the caesar salad and the eggplant parm. with spaghetti. the salad was without a doubt the best we have ever had anywhere. just the flavors were perfect, right amount of cheese with tangy dressing. we cleaned the plate. the artichokes had a wonderful flavor and were cooked perfect. the eggplant was breaded more with panko which made it light and crunchy. it was just perfect. sauce excellent. we had a peroni beer with it to top it all off. if anything was missing, it was some bread to sop up the sauce on the artichokes and the salad dressing i couldn't scrape off the plate.
in looking at themenuwe realized that we share a lot, but if we had each gotten our own meals it would have been very pricey. there was plenty for us to eat sharing and we left full. we are going to splurge and go back again for sure. the service was great, the food amazing. outside of italy never had it so good.

while themenulooks interesting the production of these items is poor. additionally it seems the staff is more interested in the "attitude" business than the service industry.

superb!!!!. oh my gosh, i have never had such great food and personable service. my wife, brother, sister-in-law, and i dined there saturday night, place was packed, yet after just a short wait at the bar (with a bartender who really knows his drinks and italian wines), we were sat outside. it was a beautiful night, so why not eat outside?

the server guided us through the menu, which they are always changing. apparently, they change and print themenuevery day and night... i mean, who does that? the wine list is all italian, as is the food, but what i couldn't understand, the server explained perfectly.

i had a steak. it melted in my mouth. my wife had pasta and said it was perfect. my brother and his wife both had seafood. we all got something different and all left there completely satisfied.

if you are in the mood for italian, find this small spot outside the grove arcade. you will not be disappointed.

while strolling through grove arcade one afternoon, we noticed modesto and checked out theirmenuand kept it in the back of our minds as a potential place to try during our visit to asheville. when our son expressed a desire for pizza one evening, we decided modesto would be the place to try. at modesto, they have a nice spot on the sidewalk for outdoor dining, or you can dine inside, which is also a nice space to enjoy your food. the food here tasted as beautiful as it looked. everything as fantastic from the fish and risotto, the lobster ravioli with mushrooms, and of course the margherita pizza. to complete the package, the service was excellent, which seemed to be the case pretty much everywhere we dined in asheville. modesto 1 page avenue asheville, nc 28801 828-225-4133

been there several times it is always good. greatmenuand their daily specials are very good as well. excellent choice for a date with the wife specially once the weather gets warmer and you can sit outside.

very good food. i was pleasantly surprised with just how good modesto's food is. theirmenuhas an incredible variety of foods - with a decent wine list. i tried some rabbit stuffed raviolis and probably the best chicken parmesan of my life. highly recommeded.
